We had just one night here. Our room was fairly small with the bathroom squeezed in to one corner. However the bed was a decent size and pretty comfy. We had food in the pub in the evening. Both of us had homemade pies, and we were very happy with them. We really liked the bar, nice and cosy, plenty... More

Stopped for 2 nights in the annex four poster bedroom and just loved the place. Friendly and very accommodating staff, relaxed, cosy, nice food, comfy beds, great bath/shower. Other than the noise from the road (not much you can do about that when you are on the main road in Castleton!!) the place was fab, Sunday quiz night is to... More

Enjoyed our night at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese. We regretted that we weren't able to stay longer. The pub was cosy and the room was clean and comfortable. More

Spent three nights in small but nice and clean single room -good atmosphere, good food and welcoming staff. Gary and Catherine run a good friendly pub which I can recommend. More

Twelve of us stayed for the weekend arriving Friday 31st September, leaving Sunday October 2nd and we could not have been made more welcome. Our room, room 10, was spacious and comfortable although the shower temperature did tend to fluctuate. A hairdrier, tea and coffee facilities and biscuits were available in the room. The television was a good Panasonic, flat screen... More

I stayed here one night on business. Check-in was fine and the room (No 9) was nicely furnished but I noticed bits on the carpet which consisted of what looked like nail clippings, fluff & material strands. I don't think it had been vacuumed in a while & it was the same on the hallway carpet. Both the bathroom and... More

A warm welcome and a comfortable, clean room was what we found at the Cheshire Cheese Inn. In the bar there was an good variety of ales and a menu with plenty of choice along with daily specials on the board. All the staff were friendly and efficient. The breakfast was tasty and a good start to a day of... More

We stayed in a nearby cottage in Castleton. This was the closest Pub. It looks fantastic from the outside with all the hanging baskets & there always seemed to be people inside eating so we gave it a try. We had invited two friends for a meal so were a little wary about eating in a new venue for us.... More

The Inn was great for our needs. Efficient booking and check-in for our specific requirements for eleven people. Warm welcome, warm rooms to come back to after a day on the hills in squally conditions & good food. A great few days. hanks. More
