We had a meal there and the food was very good! My boyfriend had a steak burger and he liked it very much. I had fish and chips. Portions were huge, service fast and efficient. The place has a very good location, easy to find, in the centre of Castleton. There's a free parking for customers. Very cosy and good... More

We had a very pleasant meal here. Staff were welcoming and there was a pleasant buzz around the pub, without it being over-crowded. I had plaice on sun-dried tomatoes and my partner had venison stew served with a giant Yorkshire pudding. I finished with a banoffee waffle (an interesting variant on banoffee pie, I thought). I'm glad I didn't get... More

We stopped by through Castleton to have something to eat. The exterior of the pub was so lovely and traditional and not like any of the pubs I have been in. We were welcomed by lovely staff. There were 2 log fires and they let so much heat out. It was lovely to hear the crackling of the fire from... More

Having been a regular Castleton visitor for many years and enjoying a beer in many of the pubs here, I had always wanted to stay in these rooms. After a drive back from Snowdonia, we stopped by on a Sunday and had the Peveril room. It looks straight out over the church up towards the castle and is newly refurbished.... More

You are really spoiled for choice of great pubs in Castleton. There are 6 and they all seem very good. Perhaps this is our favorite to date, but it's very close. Located on the road through Castleton. There is a car park near the rear. The bar is to the right as you enter, with the restaurant to the left.... More

We arrived back in Castleton extremely cold from a walk up Mam Tor, the summit-temperature of which must have been -15C with the wind chill ! Nags Head was the place to find: two roaring fires to thaw out a large group of adults and kids, great beer, warm atmosphere, board games to entertain; we didn't want to leave and... More

Travelled over to castleton in a hunt for a good old British pub that didn't charge an arm and a leg! Served by a lovely lady who was very friendly and welcoming. The food was fantastic and beautifully presented, and the warm log fire just added to a fantastic visit. :)

We stayed here for a long weekend in March 2013, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, there were three fires burning all day, and the food was excellent. Sometimes when you stay somewhere for a few days, you look at the menu and there is only really one item that you like. Not... More

What an excellent team to find at any establishment large or small. From arrival we were greeted with the warmest of welcomes. This is a very friendly unpretentious pub (well more than a pub.. an excellent travellers inn). Absolutely 1st class breakfasts and very good quality and value food all round. Bedrooms are compact but cosy and includes all the... More
