.. this hotel has terrific potential but just did not meet the mark when we stayed. The staff were all charming & helpful but there just wasn't enough of them. The menu made all the right noises but the execution of the dishes really wasn't great & because of the understaffing it took forever to get served ... the final... More

Dear Frank, Thank you for your review. All of our food is sourced from local suppliers and cooked freshly for our guests. This does take a little longer, especially at a busy time. Unfortunately, on the morning you mention, a large walking party was staying with us and they all arrived together for breakfast. Additional waiting staff would not have... More

Room was lovely and newly refurbished - fantastic bathroom and amazing view over the fells. Right in the high street so convenient for everything. Had excellent sleep was so quiet. This hotel is in the middle of Sedbergh a very quiet market town. It is an old hotel but they have tried to update the bedrooms, but whatever they do it will still be an old hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful. There may not be many of them but as it was not busy this is... More

Very welcoming hotel in a great location in the centre of sedbergh (quiet one way street!) £35 for one night + £5 for dog which I didn't mind paying but wasn't told of the extra charge until room confirmation when bookin online. Perhaps this should be stated on the website. Receptionst was very friendly and showed me to my room.... More

Rang the reception bell and the barman came through and uttered the classic greeting "you'll have to wait". turns out he was the only member of staff on duty. Big room (Number 4) poorly refurbished, with a dodgy shower. It only runs if the power is on and cannot be turned off without leaving the bathroom. Time to head out... More

I've stayed in the Bull several times in the past and it was best described as cheap and cheerful those times - although it wasn't actually cheap..... Since then it has changed hands and has improved markedly. The bar and public areas are modern but not too much as to lose it's character. The real ale is spot on. The... More

Have known and avoided the Bull for several years but was recently tempted to test the newly-refurbished restuarant and rooms. The new owners have been working hard over the last year to upgrade the whole building beginning with the kitchen and public access areas including the toilets. We have now had two meals in the restaurant, the first with friends... More

We stayed in November just for one saturday night and paid 90 pounds for a couple with breakfast. We drank and ate in the bar, good bar and really good food - pleasantly surprised.
