A very enjoyable and relaxing first stay in a idyllic location - fantastic views from the dining room at breakfast. The food, both at breakfast and evening meal, was perfect - compliments to the chef! The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a good laugh during the pub quiz on the wednedsay evening - after sampling the homemade... More

Been visiting here for over 25 years and it's a favourite due to lovely garden in the summer and cosy bars in the winter. Food good and staff usually chatty and pleasant. Visited here last week and staff seemed miserable and monosalabic. I asked fro some bread with my pate as melba toast portion served with it was mouse sized... More

We will look into this incident. We apologise and hope the reviewer will give us another chance. This isn't the level of service we expect from our staff. More

Have eaten here many times, and the food and service has always been faultless. Stunning views from the garden and restaurant. Great atmosphere and fires in the winter. Always make a point of going when we are in the Lakes.

Stayed here for 2 nights midweek to enjoy some walking on the surrounding fells. The accommodation is dog friendly and we had a large double room with on suite and fabulous views. The room was very clean but a bit tired looking, though as they allow dogs in them it's no surprise I wouldn't expect designer chic. Breakfast was excellent... More

We stayed for one night in Mid-May and wished we'd booked for longer. The hotel is small and friendly and has a really nice feel about it - it also has alot of history having been an inn for centuries. We arrived pretty wet as we'd been on the hills in hail - the hotel has excellant drying facilites if... More

We called in for a lunch stop on our walk from Ambleside over Wansfell to Troutback. It's been a while since we've been in this pub as the last few times it's been so busy we've had to go to the Queens Head down the road instead, however, this time we got there just after 12 and managed to get... We stayed here a few months ago, it's a dog friendly place which is great for us! We had a meal in the cosy, open fire bar area which was lovely, and the breakfast was good. It's in a great location for getting to Windermere, and really relaxing. I think for the price the rooms (bathroom especially) could do with... More

We stayed at The Mortal Man on Friday 26th April 2013. We were very impressed with the location & the room was nice with lovely views. We headed to the bar, loved the open fires. Ordered 2 gin & tonics & a pint of Loweswater Gold. The beer was very cloudy & obviously off & the tonics were both flat.... More

Our bar staff pointed out to you that your Loweswater Gold was slightly opaque, this was rectified for you automatically. We then had thought your subsequent complaint -about 3 of your 5 Gin & Tonics- had been dealt with by our bar manager who spoke to you at the time. We are sorry to read that it wasn’t handled in... We have just returned from our first stay at the Mortal Man Hotel and it certainly did not disappoint. This clean, well mainted hotel is in a beautiful location, has a nice, cosy bar and serves excellent food, it is also dog friendly which was our main reason for booking. It is not a 5 star luxurious hotel but this... More

We wanted a good base from which to go walking and a comfortable room to return to in the evenings and this was what we got. The pub has a great setting and our room had lovely views of the valley. It was clean and had all that we wanted. (TV reception was poor but we didn't mind this and... More
