We had booked this hotel as it is very close to L'Enclume. The rooms are of a good size and the bed was very comfortable. Our room would have benefited from a blackout blind as the sun streaming in woke us both up at 7am, although we can't complain too much about nice weather. I did think the rates were... More

We had dinner here whilst on a weekend break in Cartmel. Food was quite tasty, generous portions but quite pricey for what it was (same as London).

I stayed at the Cavendish arms with my partner Andy on Easter Sunday. The village is beautiful & the hotel is very nice, we stayed in room 7 the bed was very squeaky but the staff said they would fix it now we had told them about it. The room was very clean & the bedding immaculate. We had a... More

Stayed at the Cavendish Arms for 2 nights. Received a warm welcome and the staff were friendly during my stay - particularly at breakfast where they were running around making sure everything was OK and topping up coffee/toast etc. The breakfast was very tasty. The room itself was big and clean but it did feel a little bit tired and... More

Thank you for your recent posting, I am really pleased you enjoyed your visit to the Cavendish Arms and Cartmel, I have found the reason for the banging door, it turned out to be just adjustment on an automatic closer on the fire door, and this issue is now resolved, (if you had mentioned it whilst you were here I... My wife and I were very pleased with the room - we stayed in one the Cavendish Arm's (new) luxury rooms above their shop, Perfect English, just 50 metres or so around the corner from the inn itself - and we had a fabulous meal in the evening back in the inn: it was far from cheap, but we can... We wanted a quiet couple of days away. Plan was to relax, do a bit of walking (not hiking!), read a book in a quiet corner, sample some local ales and eat! We managed to achieve some of these at the Cavendish Arms. To be fair, the weather was against us from the start - and to the finish. This... More

This pub truly deserves its place within one of the prettiest villages anywhere in the UK. The service is friendly and charming. They serve a beer exclusively brewed for the Cavendish Arms, called the Cavendish Ale. The food was a real treat too. Can't wait to go back.

My wife and I stayed for one night for our wedding anniversary. Having secured a room with a four poster bed when booking by phone, we cannot speak highly enough of Richard and his staff. The establishment is old and carries with it all the little faults that you do not get with sanitized chain hotels, which adds to the... More

never having stayed in a coaching inn before, I was a bit apprehensive when taken to our room on arrival, however the staff, food and ambience of the cavendish more than made up for any misgivings I had, only fault, an extra seat would have been welcome in our room ( 2 ) . We did enjoy our time at... More
