We were booked to eat at L'Enclume (which we have reviewed separately) and it was a natural choice to stay at the sister hotel. There was a warm welcome and the room was lovely. The bathroom was exceptionally good! The bed was very comfortable. We did not have the opportunity to see other rooms but our back bedroom had a... More

Ten days or so prior to arrival I had e-mailed the hotel to enquire whether or not an off-street parking space would be available for me and was told that there should be. When I arrived I discovered that they were extending the kitchen/restaurant in the area that used to be the car park. No huge issue, but I am... More

Stayed two nights. The rooms are scattered over 3 buildings, all belonging to l'enclume. Stayed in a superior room in the restaurant building. Room was like a suite, spacious & good quality furnishings. The tasting menu meal was superb! Breakfast served in the bistro, 2 minute walk. Again, very good good. Would definitely recommend, not cheap but worth it as... More

We had been walking Hadrian's wall and stopped on the way back down-country for a two-night package break at L'Enclume. The whole eating experience - both restaurants and breakfast - were flawless, the homemade cookies in the room, the decor and the comfortable bed were all excellent, too. One real let-down was the bath/bathroom - the shower wouldn't get properly... More

We stayed for two nights, and were disappointed overall. The positive points first: the room was very clean, and the bed adequately comfortable. However, considering that we were paying £160 a night, I was expecting a 'wow' room. Not so. We stayed in room 15, which was a pretty average hotel room. The room was rather small, was ridiculously warm... More

We got this package as a wedding gift. We got a room right above L'Enclume. It's big but funny enough the room was not flat, you do feel walking up and down the floor board. The bathroom was big - a bit too big. Shampoo and soap were provided but didn't smell too attractive so bring your own. :) There's... More

We selected room 12 - it was comfortable and charming but not wow. An extremely noisy fridge kept us awake (along with the noise from reception downstairs in the morning), in addition there were a couple of broken light fittings and the bathroom door didn't shut. Niggles, but not what you'd expect at the price. Breakfast at Rogan and Co... More

We stayed here as a part of a gourmet deal. The staff are very polite, our room was a decent size and clean. Overall, I would recommend. We were situated in room 4 near the main restaurant. The only minor niggles during our stay was the lack of parking, creaky floorboards from the room above, and uninspiring choice of cereals,... More

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at L'Enclume recently, room 2 was clean, comfortable, and full of that cottage charm with exposed beams and wonky ceilings. Bottled water, tea, coffee and homemade biscuits were replenished daily. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms, which was easily big enough for the two of us, however, room 2 is situated... More

If you're after frills and room service this isn't the place for you, but if you want somewhere comfortable and stylish to stay then this could be the place. We stayed for two nights in the Bradshaw which is next to reception in L'enclume house (next door to Rogan and Co). Facilities included wetroom-style bathroom, tea and coffee facilities (cafetiere)... More
