We stayed for a couple of nights with our dog last week in Room 8. Our experience was excellent, with great food, great room and really excellent bar area. Really lovely people work in the hotel / bar and are incredibly helpful. Our dog had a great time making friends with the local 'doggy' residents and although the weather let... More

We stopped in a couple of times just for a meal over Easter, food etc was great but the thing that really stood out was the service a couple of guys who were on duty, one of them, an Irish guy could not have done more for us as a family making sure we all had a good meal ,... More

Perfect for a get-away-from-it-all break. Lovely people great food and fab, 'real' beer. And top-class value. The hotel is the last building before you reach the notorious Hardknott Pass which was closed to vehicles when we visited due to the huge amount of snow that had hit the area a couple of weeks earlier. We walked to the top of... More

We have visited this pub every year for the last four years and were really impressed with the changes that have taken place. The decor is really lovely tradtional on the outside with a modern but cosy vibe inside. As a family with 3 kids and a dog we were very warmly welcomed and looked after. The kids had a... More

Visited the Hardknott Cafe (next to the Woolpack Inn) for a breakfast when in the Lakes. The door to the cafe/ bar was locked, so someone kindly let us in though the back. We ordered the full breakfast which came with 2 sausages, 2 slices of bacon (a bit salty!), an egg, mushrooms, black pudding and tomatoes - the portion... More

We booked a double room for 3 nights. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good, particularly the Sunday roast which was excellent value at £10 for 2 courses. Pizzas also excellent. Full Lakeland breakfast was a good sized portion, although veggie choice for breakfast limited. Our dog was made very welcome by all the staff. We will... More

My sister booked all the rooms at the Woolpack for a group of nineteen family and friends as a belated 40th birthday surprise for her husband and we had a bit of a mixed experience overall. When the booking was made, some months previously, my sister was told that we could have the top bar, with big screen facility, for... More

Lovely place in a remote area of Lake District. Warm and friendly welcome, good food and service, good range of real ales and fine wines. And more importantly dog friendly! Would definitely come back.

Arrived for a meal on Friday around 3.30pm the bar was quiet but we weren't exactly welcomed warmly. We were expecting old world charm in this 'historic pub', no personality, nothing about it we had a look round and the residents side looked much nicer than the general bar area. We ordered pizza for the children which looked lovely and... More

We have been eating here for years but it has recently changed hands in the last few years. The owners have renovated the entire place so we did feel a little guilty about entering with our walking boots on, however despite the fancy interior as walkers we received a warm welcome. The local, fresh and seasonal food was brilliant, tasty... More
