Lowbyer manor was perfect for us as we had our little boy with us on our holiday. There is a bar downstairs and also a huge residents sitting room so we could put our son to sleep and ave somewhere else to sit. There were plenty of places to eat in Alston, all of which catered to families and a... More

We booked the last available room at fairly short notice. I was drawn to the lovely patchwork quilts described on the website. It was a spacious room with a bath but no shower (not a problem for me). It was an early autumn weekend, a bit chilly and showery but the room was lovely and warm. Lowbyer is charming and... More

Spent 2 nights here as our base for a long distance walk. Laura and Richard made us very welcome, even taking charge of our wet walking clothes, returning them dry in the morning, The breakfast was excllent and cooked fresh for us with high quality local produce. Lovely guests' lounge and made to feel very welcome. More

Just got back from our trip in the UK. My husband and I hiked a section of the Pennine Way, stopping at various B & B s along the way. After a very tasking 20 mile day of climbing Cross Fell and other peaks and valleys we arrived at Lowbyer Manor to be greeted by the pleasant news that our... More

Rooms were overpriced for what they were, for the prices charged we have had higher spec rooms on our travels. That aside, I found both Laura and Richard very attentive and accomadating. The lounge was lovely and generaly the house had a warm feel about it. Laura cooked us a great breakfast in the morning, catered for our needs and... More

Great attention to detail regarding all things that make a stay comfortable in an interesting historical old house. Hosts are very hospitable and kind, without a trace of stuffiness. More

My husband and I stayed here one night while cycling coast to coast. On arrival we were given a very warm welcome, a cup of tea in the lounge, and a complimentary upgrade to the master suite so we could have a bath after cycling all day! The owner was lovely, very friendly, and the accommodation very comfortable. A good... More

We visited in December 2010 as a family and although it was the last day it was open before closing for the Christmas period and Hartside pass was two feet in snow so we were the only guests we were met with smiles and a lovely warm house. I also visited in April whilst on a coast to coast cycle... More

We stayed one week. The global service was very good with an eye for details. Room nr 9 is spacy and clean. There is no refrigerator and there is an old fashioned TV set. The breakfast is served with the friendliest smile, at individual tables, and very extensive . Also glutenfree. The location is ideal as base for daily hiking... More
