My husband and I just spent our first anniversary at this hotel. Two nights of leather floors, morrocan tables, gilt staircases and more velvet than you can shake a stick at! This floats right past gaudy and tastless opulence back into cool again. There are a few little niggles, which amount to 10ths of a star loss overall. We did... More

We went for a Sunday lunch, which was certainly not cheap. The food was good without being great, but what can you do with a traditional roast dinner. The service is another thing, or should I say the lack of service, the lack of skill, the lack of interest. I think there is better service at MacDonalds. 1) Not met... More

This is a total one-off - a crazy, over the top design that makes for a unique experience. Bit like an expensive lap dancing club as designed by Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen. Food was good but not outstanding, service was attentive and room was unlike anywhere I've stayed before. Taken with a pinch of salt and in the right company I... More

Visited the Crazy Bear for an evening meal, no one greeted us, had to find our own seats, when one of our party arrived late, I moved a chair approx 8" so she could sit down and before she could site down, one of the staff moved it back to its original place, then went and moaned about it to... We went for a 30th birthday meal on a sunday. We also were not greeted at the door. We were left to find the others in our party (there were 7 of us all together) who were sat out in the garden area. The presentation of the restaurant was fantastic. Undeniably a lot of time, money and expertise has gone... More

Where do I start?? I have stayed here on two occasions and have tried two of their suites. Both were out of this world! Everything is so over the top but oh so nice!! Padded leather walls and floors, low lighting, monsoon showers, deep copper baths, amazing beds... Dined in their English restaurant on both occasions. Food was incredible! Lovely... More

A one night stay in Suite 3 couldn't be faulted. What an experience ! I feel like Ive seen the 'Mouse Trap' and really don't want to spoil the surprise.......Dined in the English Restaurant and the Chateaubriand was first class. Good selection of wine by the glass. Make sure somebody shows you around or just be nosey. The public toilets... More

Loved the decadence of this place, my husband booked it as part of my birthday surprise and initially I loved it , right up my street, I love a bit of bling ! We stayed in one of the Fab suites, ours was room 3 although it does have slight, sadistic padded cell tendencies! With black leather everywhere, the ceiling,... More

My partner and I visit the Crazy Bear in Beaconsfield last Friday and stopped for one night in Room 11. (We had a choice of 3 rooms... no suites). After reviewing the website and the comments on this site I thought that the room was going to be ostentatious and luxurious. In my opinion, it was neither. I have stayed... More

Had no idea what this was going to be like- used it as a country pub to stay after walking the Chilterns!! Wrong! Hadn't got ANY of the right gear to live up to the leather floors, gilded bedsteads or gothic drapery in our suite.. Didn't stop me from having a great night there , but I have several caveats....
