If you are on a budget, don't mind roughing it, and aren't hung up on appearances, you might love it. The small hotel (really more like a motel) has seen better days. The beds/sheets/towels are clean but worn. Our upstairs room had a beautiful view from the hammock/ balcony, but there wasn't much privacy when a family checked into the... more

Nice beach, Charming spot, Good albeit slightly expensive restaurant, but commensurate with local rates. A great place to stop for two or three days after arriving at Cancun as long as you prefer to make your own fun. Kids will love the trampoline on the beach and it makes for some great photos. The owner is a bit gruff but... more

My boyfriend and I are Canadians and stayed at Leon's hotel for 9 nights during our dive vacation in Xpu-ha in March 2007. As many of the reviews have attested, Hotel Villas del Caribe is basic accommodation with accommodation rates starting from $55 US/night in low season up to $75 US/night for a beachfront cabana in high season. We were... more

We wanted to like this place, but would not stay here again. As described, it is a basic hotel with a decent restaurant attached. It has a lot of potential, if the owner would add a few more amenities. The rooms are spartan. Basic things, like a comfortable bed and hot water are lacking. The beds are rock hard and... more

We spent there one night. During the day the place looks lovely, but in the evening and night it is very lonely and a bit scary. The place is laid back on a nice and lonely beach, but with plenty of dogs around. The Bungalow we had was just ok for one night, clean, but we were freezing all night... more

Be warned! This place is dangerous. The first night I got food poisoning from the restaurant and had to sleep half the night on the filthy bathroom floor and the other half on a bed that had a wire from the springs poking through. When the pain from my stomach cramps forced me to have involuntarily spasms and roll over... more

Myrtle Beach, Florida, or Cancùn, it's not, but to me, that's the whole point of staying at Villas del Caribe. It's not an all-inclusive by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not as rustic and primitive as staying in Punta Allen. My family and I have been staying at Villas de Caribe since the Christmas of 1996, and have... more

Great price for the location. One of the nicest beaches on that coast. Fair prices. good food. Rustic, not an all inclusive beast, but very pleasant. If you decide to go diving use Bahia Divers, 5 minutes down the sandy beach toards the south. more

My husband and I spent part of our honeymoon at villas del caribe. Located about half way between playa and tulum. We had a wonderful time, Leon, the owner was a wonderful host and had alot of information for us. Amazing beach! you can snorkel right off the beach, no boat trip required. Kite sailing was also available up the... more

There are many other places to stay along the southern Riveria Maya than this dump. Not only were the linens, towels, pillows and beds dreadful, there was a layer of scum on the faucets in the bathroom, a layer of rust on the refrigerator, and rust also on the noisy ceiling fan. Worst of all when we asked the proprietors... more
