If seeing a Monarch migration is on your list, this is the place to experience it. Beware of the weekend crowds. My advice would be to go/stay during the week. The tours will be more intimate, the food more delicious and the hotel grounds quiet. Your hosts Pablo and Lisette, will arrange it all, tho it will cost you... but... More

A second stay with the Rancho San Cayetano team, and it was better than the first. The staff could not be more helpful and concerned about guests' wishes and comfort. The meals served in the comfortable dining room, always with a welcome, warm fire in the stone fireplace, are more than ample, all fresh, local ingredients are used and all... More

After reading several negative reviews on tripadvisor, I was a little apprehensive about our recent stay with our grandkids to see the Monarch butterflies. But we were pleasantly surprised. The grounds were beautiful and our suite (Casa del Sol) was roomy and comfortable. We enjoyed playing cards at the table outside our romm and then warming up with a fire... More

If you do stay here, do not be tempted to eat at their 'restaurant'. Unfortunately we ate there twice and dinner is a set menu - you have no choice. For US$35, dinner was terribly over-priced by US standards. For Mexico, it's just ridiculous. The meals were of poor quality (tasteless carrot soup and over-cooked, soggy, grey vegetables). One of... I had the pleasure of spending Thanksgiving at Rancho San Cayetano and it was a memorable experience. The hotel is superbly maintained and has tropical flowers and trees on several acres of property. The rooms are very comfortable, each with a fireplace and a superb assortment of welcome amenities in the rooms and bathrooms. On arrival, they welcome you with... More

We visited Rancho San Cayetano because we learned it belong to the "Club de Calidad Tesoros de Michoacan". We were dissapointed to find out cold water on the swimming pool (even though they mentioned 25 C degrees!). The rooms didn't have TV. and there was no WI FI available. No bottled water was provided and there was no restaurant service... More

We were four adults and three children. ages 13, 10, and 7. The three beautiful labs, beautiful pool and luscious grounds kept the boys busy. The rooms were clean and beautifully furnished. There were areas all over the grounds to sit and read and relax. These innkeepers have thought of everything. The food was outstanding for all of the meals.... More

Lovely hotel in large gardens with a pleasant terrace and pool. Our double room was pleasantly furnished with a fireplace where we lit a fire in the evening. It can be a bit cold after dark. Overall the hotel is expensive but a very good experience. The friendly owners are knowledgeable about the butterflies and organised a great day trip... More

We came to the ranch in order to visit the breeding habitat of the Monarch butterflies. The ranch is located near Cerro Pelon, which is by far the least touristy area to view them (we were the only people in the forest when we went). Our hosts, Pablo and Lissete spoke English and we're so helpful and welcoming. Lissete is... More

If you look for a warm place where you will feel like home, this is the place. Pablo and Lisette are so kind. The garden is beautiful. The room is elegant. The breakfast is amazing and having this excellent diner in such a nice dining room with fireplace is just great. We stayed two nights and were so sad to... More
