After having stayed at some wonderful B & Bs, my husband and I came away from this experience feeling rather disappointed. From a positive viewpoint, the B & B is in an excellent location: on the river, close to the Fairmont & Casino, with lovely restaurants nearby, and the North American style breakfast was good. However, the house itself & it's decor seems in need of some love & care! The room we stayed in was dark & uninviting, and the bathrooms were dirty & in need of a revamp. The host, whilst friendly and very talkative, did not give us the warm & homely feeling that we usually get when we stay in this type of accommodation. more

On a calm, sunny autumn morning we arrived in La Malbaie, home of a dear friend and also a place of beauty and adventure.
We stayed at Frank Harrop's welcoming bed and breakfast "Gite Harrop's".
We were offered a beautiful room overlooking the secluded rear garden and soaked in the atmosphere and peace and tranquility.
Breakfast was accompanied by our host's friendly conversation and unending samples of homemade chutneys, preserves and condiments to accompany freshly-made muffins, bacon, eggs, etc.
The gite was tastefully furnished and exuded a warmth that only the love and attention of a caring owner could give to it.
Leisurely walks along the riverside under a crisp autumn sun and through avenues of russet and gold trees, then a brief visit to the casino, added to our cherished memories of this lovely town.
We will certainly return to La Malbaie and Gite Harrop's will be our base for sure! more
