While most rooms at the Silver Dart Lodge have fantastic views, there are about 15 that have no view of anything except car wheels. We booked at a low rate and had those rooms. I didn't actually stay there this time although I have a couple of times over the past 20 years. Excellent location, nice motel-style rooms most with views of the Bras d'Or (some fancier digs too), good breakfast, routine bus-tour dinner fare. Nice hotel, with a view on Lac Bras d'Or. The breakfast is good, staff is welcoming and it's close to the city of Baddeck (you can even take a bicycle and travel to town, which is 5-6 minutes away). The wireless Internet signal is a bit weak though, but they have boosters for laptops and 2 PCs in the lobby.... more

We stayed in this hotel during our July 2009 trip to Cape Breton. I thought it was overpriced for what we got. This hotel is in need of a spruce up. The beds were comfortable and the room suited our needs but it just seemed a little tired and there was a funny smell in the hallways. I was disappointed... more
