My wife and I arrived for a wedding visit from Ct. and were greeted by our host and guests from the front porch. We couldn't have been made to feel more at home from the moment we arrived. Our hosts Marilyn and Jim went out of their way to make sure we had hot coffee and tea at our bedroom... More

Want a comfortable, sumptiously decorated historic B&B Inn? This is the place. Lookig for a beautiful Inn where there are no customers but only friends the minute you walk in the door? Want to stay in a place centrally located and an easy stroll into Tryon village? Have pets? No problem. Have kids? No problem. Like coffee/tea service waiting outside... More

When I walked up the stairs onto the porch, I felt like I was home even though I had never been there before. Marilynn and Jim were so welcoming and accomodated our every need! The Inn, with it's many collections, was visually stunning. We were shone to our room ,which was beautifully decorated in an equestrian style, with a comfy... More

My stay at the Melrose Inn will always be a cherished experience. Visually, the creative and artistically decorated inn is a feast for the eyes. The breakfast and dinner were also wonderfully presented and a delicious feast. I enjoyed and appreciated the special attention and little surprises given to the meals and in the rooms. Great coffee served at our... More

When left unexpectely without a vehicle on a holiday weeking in Tryon, NC, we took a stroll through a lovely old neighborhood and came upon the Melrose Inn. When we inquired about having a meal there, we were given a quick tour of this amazing inn, then chose to be seated on the porch for what we can literally call... More

This Inn is not just another B & B. Its over the top decor is the result of 20 years of collecting by the new owner, Marilyn Doheny. She and Jim do everything they can to make your stay peaceful and pleasant, even inviting us to join them at the local pub to hear their favorite performer. The themed rooms... More

Marilyn's Bed & Breakfast The Melrose Inn I have just returned from one of the best vacations I have ever experienced.  Not only did I learn many new quilting techniques in my week long class with  Marilyn but I was able to relax in an enchanted setting. I felt an overall calm and at the same time a sense of... More

My wife and I stayed at the Melrose when visiting our daughter for Thanksgiving. What a find. The place is huge, with many charming themed rooms - such as Equestrian, Egyptian, Whimsey, Floral Abundance, and Renaissance. We stayed in Floral Abundance - a corner room with ample natural light and a large cozy bed. Each morning there was coffee and... More

Recently I had the pleasure of staying at the Melrose Inn in Tryon, NC for a week. The new owner, Marilyn Doheny, internationally known quilt and fabric artist, has taken on the daunting task of bringing this former grande dame back to her historic beauty, one room at a time. Each hotel bedroom is decorated with a different theme, and... More
