Stayed one night for a summer event in Buller. Was told when booking was made that we would receive a room upgrade and continental breakfast. Arrived after six pm to be told that we weren't expected and the room wasn't ready. Returned at 7pm and was given a pokey room with dirty bed sheets. Attempted to make a cup of... More

First time at Buller for the Mountain bike series. The pics looked OK on the website but the place was very run down. There were no flyscreens on the windows and it was quite warm with a plague of flies, but you couldn't open the window. No air conditioner. Rooms and bathroom very tight considering they were advertised to fit... More

Well, firstly, the walls were wet from a leak which made it impossible to sleep in one of the bunks. Mouldy carpet from shower leaking, dirty kitchen utensils and DISGUSTING oven. Light bulb explosions, cheesy smell. Beds looked like they'd already been slept in. Third "bedroom" was a screen room divider - not very private! Bathroom tap shoots water out... More

My partner and I went to mount buller during Jan holiday for the first time. We had already booked a double room according to what we'd seen on the website. When we arrived there we could not recognize the place, as it was totally different from what we'd seen on the website. It was a horrible filthy backpacker's accommodation, with... More

Last week of season ski. Rooms were ok but there was a problem with the heating. It worked too well and couldn't be turned down. The first morning we managed to open the window. Breakfast was good and included in price. There was a quite unpleasant aroma in the drying room and its lower level. Rooms and building look old... More

We stayed at the retreat at the end of the ski season. Our rate was great ($125 per night for four), so our expectations were not extremely high. However, if you paid mid season rates, I can understand that people feel that the place is a bit dated. However, I do wonder if others have priced staying elsewhere, as there... More

We stayed for 2 nights (22nd-24th Sept), family of 4 in an Alpine Room. It was an updated room, with the bathroom so new that they have not had time to put up a small shelf for cosmetics, and a few hooks for clothes. By next Winter, I hope the shelf and hooks will have been installed. This room was... More
