We stayed 1 night over Memorial day, a family of 4 in room # 6 on the ground floor. The room was large but the bathroom tiny barely enough space for a bath tub and a toilet, tiny sink in the room. The only renovated part of the room was the paint, the rest: musty smell, old carpet, old tv,... More

My husband and I stayed at the Island Inn (5/2012), and we aren't sure we would want to stay again until they finish fixing up the place. The history behind the inn is really neat, and the place has alot of potential, if fully restored, to be a fabulous inn -- which then, they could justify the prices for their... More

This place has history; from the navy barracks during World War II to the top floor that use to be an Officers club. If you are expecting to see a Ritz Carlton this is not it, the rooms are very simple because you shouldn't be in there long, you should be taking advantage of the perfect location, you are with... Never had a worse experience. From the hair clogging the tub to the sink falling off the wall to the drunken revelers at 2 am... It's hard to imagine a worse experience. I guess there is new management who says they are renovating but that seems to consist only of new paint. They need to replace the nasty carpets. Further... More

We arrived here on a windy, cool February day and had booked the 'Crow's Nest' on the 3rd floor of the older original building. Very spacious room with great views from the 2 patios, we could see (a bit) the lighthouse from the side deck and the inner harbour from the front. Not close views, but not bad at all.... More

My wife and I, and our 2 Westies, stayed 2 nights on our way to Florida from Vermont. The hosts were warm and friendly. The 2-floor accommodations provided plenty of room with all the amenities we could want. We cooked most meals. The upstairs had a comfortable bed, a TV, bathroom, an outside deck, and another room had a shower and... More

One can travel the world and find few beaches as fine as Ocracoke Island. Add to that a peaceful, artsy, unpretentious village - short of heaven - paradise. I had 3 days to spend my only vacation of the summer - and needing to unplug - Ocracoke was the choice. Island Inn was the perfect place to fully enjoy the... More

The room smelled like mildew and rotting wood. We purchased candles and sprayed the room with Febreeze daily. The electrical outlets were unsafe and shorted out. This place is an electrical code nightmare. There was old blood found on the bedskirt of one of the beds. We took the bedskirt to management, who never even blinked when we told him... More

A group of friends and I stayed here on July 4th. We found it last minute and were able to find a room. Let me tell you, some of the most friendly people work in this hotel. Fantastic hosts to show you the true meaning of southern hospitality. The hotel also has a historic story, one which the owners will... More

We found this little Inn at the last minute. Not only was the staff friendly & courteous, but they made us feel at home! We loved the antique feel of this Inn. If you're high-maintenance, this isn't the place for you. This is by no means a Hilton or a Ritz Carlton. If you're looking for a place to rest... More
