NEVER STAY HERE- READ FOR YOUR SAFETY! Imagine being in your hotel room at 10:30 pm watching TV, half asleep and you hear a loud BOOM on the door. A pause and then another BOOM and someone yelling. Startled, I went toward the door. It was partially open, and only the security latch prevented this person from entering. They start yelling, "Mark Jones- you didn't pay for your room! Open the door!" I pushed the door closed and tried to use the peephole, but it was covered up. I yelled back, "Who is this? I am not Mark Jones!" The voice on the other side yelled again, "Open the door, you need to pay for your room!" I asked again, "Who the #$%@ are you?" They yelled back, saying they were the owners and to open the door! At this point, I was not sure what to do. Against my better judgment, I opened the door. Immediately, I saw an irate man and a woman scrolling on her phone. Neither has a uniform or name badge. He gets in my face, telling me I need to go to the front desk and give the clerk my credit card to pay. I told them that I'm not Mark Jones and that I was checked in by his staff, using my name, Mark Johnson. Still in my face, he says they don't have my card and I shouldn't be in the room. Now, other guests were looking out of their rooms due to the commotion. I said, "I checked in with his staff and booked the room through Priceline." At this point, the woman scrolling through the phone says, "He's in the system." (Um, yes! How else did I get the key and into the room on the 4th floor?) He then told me that I still needed to give the desk a credit card. Flashback to check-in: The clerk looked at my license, and she even asked if I wanted to keep the room on the card they had on the reservation. I told her yes. She then activated my cards, explained about breakfast, etc. Back to the hallway confrontation: At this point, I was done with this harassment. I told him I was not staying at his motel anymore. Iand expected a full refund. They offered no apology to me or the other guests. I closed the door and they left. I packed up and headed down to the lobby. The couple who confronted me were nowhere to be found. I asked the clerk where they were, and she said they were on the 4th floor taking care of a disturbance. I said, "You mean the one they created with me?" She continues to look vacantly at her computer. I asked her for their names. She says she doesn’t know their names. WTH? She ultimately gave me a hotel business card, claiming it had the owner's name on it. I looked closer in my car to realize there was no name on it. Furiously, I walked back to the desk to ask for their names…She "plays dumb.” She made up a couple of names. I knew I wasn't getting anywhere with her, so I started to leave. Then another guy walked into the lobby with a pitbull or pitbull mix dog on a leash. He says, "What's the problem?" I told him it was a problem with the hotel/hotel owners and asked him who he is? He said he works there and that I needed to get off the property. (Again, no name badge or uniform) As he said that, he approached me with the dog encouraging it to get aggressive. I walked out saying this was ridiculous and that he should keep the dog away. I told him I was calling the police. He continued to follow me out the door, allowing the increasing aggressive dog to get within a couple of feet from me. I got to my car, called 911, and started telling the operator the story. He said to leave the property. I told him I wanted to file a complaint. He said to park somewhere and an officer would come meet me. I parked at the gas station next door. Soon, the officer came, and I explained what had happened. He said the confrontation with the owner in the hallway was a civil dispute, and he could not do anything. The threats with the dog would need to be reported to a magistrate. He took my license, went to his car, and said he made note of the complaint but never offered to get the hotel/man with the dog's statement. This hotel should be removed from Priceline at the minimum, and if Choice Hotels believes in guest safety, they would drop the franchise.…
