This place was shabby and the predominant thing we were aware of was the strong smell of Lysol like spray in the room and in the halls with an undercurrent of moldiness. Will not be staying in any of the Hilton hotels again since they have proved unreliable once again. They have a 100% gaurantee which did me no good... more

Found room rates $79-99/nt online.Asked the front office to honor the online rates. They refused quoting their best rate of $116/nt plus tax and up.They told me to go elsewhere or book the room online myself. This particular hotel was not helpful at all unlike all other Hampton Inns I have been to who have all honored the best internet rate.... more

My definition of Rate bait and switch would be when a reservation is made, confirmed and booked for a particular room type and rate, then switched to a cheaper, less desirable accommodation while still charging the highest rate. Hampton Inn Highlands has never had a $79 rate in July, perhaps January. The $99 rate was for a standard double smoking...

It was a warm February weekend and we made a short trip to the mountains. The hotel was nice, clean and affordable for February. The heat worked too well and kept the room rather warm. The breakfast was good. There was not a lot open for supper Sunday night. So beware if you come in the winter on the weekend. more

Originally called and booked a King Balcony. We arrived a bit early (around 12:30) Front desk said our room should be ready at 2:30. Returned at 2:30 and room was still not ready. Returned at 3:45. Room was still not ready. The front desk upgraded our room to a King Suite. Room was fabulous and we had a great stay.... more

Our 8th year in Highlands (2nd at Hampton Inn) was filled with the beauty and splendor that only the mountains in autumn can bring. Hampton Inn prices during peak season are at least half the cost of any other accommodations in Highlands. (Most places are nearly $400/night and some places don't allow children.) The hotel is simple and nice with... more

First the positives. The hotel is a nice hotel. They do have a continental breakfast with cereal, a little bit of fruit, and some microwaveable omelets/french toast/etc. which is nice since everything there is so expensive. The staff is very nice and helpful. There is always hot chocolate and coffee available. Rooms are clean. Beds are GREAT! Now to the... more

Had to negotiate to arrive at the rate already quoted to my sister; the air conditioner responded on its own schedule (controls confusing and no "instant gratification" to warm room); mattresses mushy, worn out. I stay at Hampton Inns 10 or 12 times a year... this one a total surprise (and not a good one). more

We were there for 3 nights and did not have a single negative experience. The hotel was very clean and very well supplied. The employees and management were all very friendly and anxious to meet our needs. more

No doubt one has to pay a little extra considering the location. Highlands is a beautiful town. And we expected Hampton Inn to have a level of quality we are used to. Not so. The staff was nice but it stops there. Small room short on towels, no pool for the kid to swim in, stale breakfast, unable to select... more

This is the only chain hotel in downtown Highlands (though I think the Historic Highlands Inn is also owned by the Hilton Group). The hotel is just a couple of mins walk from the start of the shops etc, and about 5-7 mins walk from the main restaurants and shops in the town. Very convenient indeed! (However, most people still... more
