The resort is actually called Carowind's CAMP Wilderness Resort, not Carowind's FORT Wilderness resort. I visited to check it out for bringing my kids in the future, and have to say that for what I wanted, it wasn't really very impressive. I was looking for a place to do a popup camper, and the area for that is just so, well., it kind of looks like someone took a big barren field and parking lot and said, "hey let's make this into a campground." I opted not to stay overnight and camped elsewhere. Went into the lodge and the staff seemed very helpful, but the popup and tent area is BARREN. It's located adjacent to the scrapyard for the theme park, and they run a shuttle between the park entrance and the campground, but there were teenagers walking the 1/2 mile distance since it is all on Carowinds property. It's just way far in the back tucked away and isolated, but not in a good way. They also had private cabins which look nice and the forums people say are enjoyable... more
