27 Jun 2009 | Trip type: Friends getaway

A group of 9 friends (8 couples and a mother/mother-in law) shared 2 2-bedroom apartments here for 5 nights. A trundle bed was added for the extra person (yes - for my mother-in-law!) at the exorbitant cost of $50.00AUD per night (that's $250.00 all up - which I thought was excessive). Otherwise, the accommodation was excellent. Close to the beach... more

We very much enjoyed our two night stay at this historic property.....beautifully restored ,.....we stayed in the old original house, rather than the new wing, which also looked very attractive..... ....we chose the main suite (room 5) which was a very large suite with huge balcony, and very well furnished.... .....we looked at a couple of other rooms, and next... more

Just spent 2 nights in a 1 bedroom apartment at Seashells. Was a bit worried when I saw how close we were to the bar, but fortunately that closed at 10.00pm and it was very quiet on both nights. The room was huge! Still has a nice new feel to it and everything you could want was there. Dined one... more

Caves House Hotel is just simply lovely. Originally built in 1905 to cater for tourism to Ngiligi Cave just a short walk away, the original hotel on the site burnt down in 1936 which paved the way for the Art Deco splendour you see there now; the current hotel was built in 1938. In the past few years it has... more

I recently witnessed a family member marry in the gardens of Caves House, absolutely stunning backdrop for a wedding!!! Bueatufil venue, terrible service. After staying for Australia Day long weekend earlier this year, we were most dissappointed in the loud live music and drunk non-hotel guests. While our room was on the other side of the hotel to the music,... more

We first stayed at Caves House 25 years ago when it was somewhat run down. Seashells have refurbished the hotel to its former glory and retained a lot of the heritage art-deco feel about the place. Wonderful location perched about the Indian Ocean with very close proximity to all the attractions of the South-West including the wineries. We only stayed... more

On arrival after a mammoth day of travelling we were initially impressed by the very plush grounds and then reception area. We were given our keycards in a nice little envelope, tramped up a couple of flights of stairs with all our luggage (no assistance offered), to find the keycards didn't work. After returning to reception and back up/down the... more

We had a lovely spa room in the original building. It was well equipped, comfortable, and had plenty of charm - with a lovely balcony with ocean views. We booked dinner in their restaurant thinking it looked good. We had drinks in the bar beforehand and the barman couldn't find the current wine list. So I chose by peering over... more

Stayed at the Seashells for 3 nights just before New Year 2007; I thought the quality of the accommodation was first class in the new wing overlooking the lawn area Each apartment has a 'U' shape, with a beautifully fitted galley kitchen in the corridor as you walk in; the kitchen offers hob, dishwasher, fridge and microwave, and tons of... more

We had organized a school holiday family visit to the Margaret River area, and chose the Caves House because of its history and iconic past -- one of the first holiday houses built in the area. It's been refurbished tastefully in its original Art Deco style, with a broad central stairway leading to ten upstairs rooms, most with windows and... more
