I recently stayed here as part of an extended family gathering. I thought it was fantastic! You pack as though you are going camping, all your food, clothing and bedding etc. but without the tents and lack of facilities. We had nice warm beds, a log fireplace, hot water and toilets. Perfect if you like the camping lifestyle but not... More

my family and i visit donnelly almost every year, about 13 times in 18 years.no it is not luxury accomodation but the setting and peaceful atmosphere makes up for it.no phone reception but big deal, if you are there as a couple or family you should be concentrating on eachother and not someone on the phone. games of tennis, cricket... Take a step back in time to a place where you smart phone will not work, there is no television in the accommodation. The houses are something from the 1950's as are the kitchens! But in stealing a line from an Aussie Movie (The castle) 'How's the serenity' So what if your not staying in flash super modern accommodation. Its... More

............with quite a few quibbles. A 3 1/2 to 4 hour drive south from Perth, The Site is in a forest in the middle of no-where, the chalet we had was very basic and quite cold our chalet looked grim and unwelcoming. All the furniture looked old and worn I cant say anything was dirty but you "suspected" it was.... More

What a shame. Cottages vary so all are in different condition. The one we stayed in was filthy and rundown. The bedrooms and toilets looked like they hadn't been cleaned for a very long time, so much so that the toilet stank and the build up of hair, dirt etc. under the bed was visible as a layer on the... Thanks for your feedback. Since the village was purchased in 2010 by a community of owners we have worked hard to improve our cottages, including new comfy beds and cosy fireplaces, new roofs and insulation and some new stoves and kitchen appliances. We want the cottage experience to match the beautiful forest setting. As the new Managers here of only... More

Our family stays at Donnelly every year - the forest is so beautiful and the kids love having the freedom to roam around the village. The cottages are all being renovated since the new owners took over a couple of years ago - new wood heaters, new beds, all really clean and comfy. We love chopping the wood for the... More

The old mill workers cottage I stayed in for 2 nights had a large balcony, which is great in the evening, watching the parade of wild emus and kangaroos on the road. Mobile phone reception is marginal and there is no phone, radio or TV in the cottage, but this only adds to the feeling of getting away from it... More

Our family have been staying at Donnelly for a few years. Last time we stayed, there had been upgrades to the accommodation and the cottages although still basic are now very comfortable. The cottage we stayed in had new beds, comfy couches and was clean and warm. We have three young boys and it so rare to find a place... More

I have been to a place like this, the animals are amazingly friendly and the place is like Australia in the 1950's. Friendly people, comfortable but simple cottages and swimming in a bush lake with emus!

We stay here every year, it is such a relaxing place to be. Very basic accomodation, beds are uncomfortable, chairs/couches are old and some units have outside toilets, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I love my luxury accomodation but I'm just as happy coming down to donnelly as staying at a five star resort. It's cheap, cheerful... More
