Ignore the previous comments about wildlife - there is lots to see if you keep your eyes open. Wildlife is always unpredictable and you never know what you will find; aside from the excellent bird life we saw Caiman, Tarantulas, Coati, Capybara, Capuchins plus.... To show how quick you have to be, the guide also saw an anteater - we... more

Great location. Not as much wildlife as we would have expected to see. NO hot water anywhere...... Overall, a memorable experience. more

We stayed at the Refugio Amazonas lodge on the 3night/4day trip with Rainforest Expeditions. Right from the pick-up at the airport the service was great. You are allocated a personal guide for the trip and ours was Oscar who really made our trip. He was a fab spotter so we saw more than some other groups and his english was... more

We found the Refugio from a NY Times article, and, traveling with a 6 year old, liked the sound of the children's program. The lodge is stunning, the rooms, one side open to the jungle, were spacious and exotic. Awakening to the sounds of the jungle has to be one of life's high points. Cold showers were a welcome relief... more

We took the four-night/five-day trip in August 2009. Two nights at Refugio Amazonas (“RA”) and two nights at Tambopata Research Center (“TRC”). As stated in the previous reviews, the boat trip and wildlife are not to be missed. It’s an amazing experience to walk through the jungle and hear the cacophony of birds, insects and monkeys. Yes, there’s cold water... more

We were so surprised to see the beautiful Refugio Amazones Lodge in the middle of the jungle. It exceeded all of our expectations with it's simple, yet amazingly lovely, comfortable, and welcoming accomodations. The guest rooms and bathrooms are clean, and while the openess takes a little getting used to, it is a wonderful experience to lie in your hammock... more

This hotel is in the middle of the Amazon Rainforest in Peru, about 3 and a half hours by bus and boat from Puerto Maldonado. From the moment we were collected at the airport until we were delivered back there a few days later our trip was wonderfully organised. The hotel itself is built of timber, the rooms are large... more

This lodge is really a unique experience. My husband and I brought our 3 sons (ages 6,8,10) into the rainforest not really knowing what to expect. The trip to the lodge is fairly long, but as we were walking up the final trail, our guide began to point out all the large spiders and bugs and our children were in... more

We stayed 3 nights in the lodge on the butterflies' lover program. On seeing the lodge I must admit I got a bit sceptical because it was so big and there were quite a lot of people, so I was affraid to not to be able to have the nature only for myself. Well yes, in the main builing it... more
