This hacienda is right in the bottom of the Cotopaxi, it is not the most beautiful but gives you the mountain country feeling. You can rent horses to go the mountain, eating there was ok, the food was so so and a bit pricey for what you get. The surroundings are spectacular, they have llamas, horses, cows and plenty of... We wrote this Hacienda because we had heard great things about it. We filled out the reservation form. They responded asking questions. I wrote back answering their questions and asking how we could pay. Very frustrating that we are trying to give them money, and we can't even give them any, That was April 29th. Still waiting to hear back...

Our family of four stayed at the Hacienda for one night after hiking at Cotopaxi. We were welcomed in the beautiful lounge with hot drinks and snacks. The lounge was warm and inviting and had a fire going in the fireplace and great views from the huge windows. We had reserved the family suite, which was more than adequate, with... More

We stayed at the Hacienda Porvenir for 3 nights in July 2012. Everyone in our family -- 2 adults and 2 boys ages 12 and 15 -- loved it. The hacienda is several km up a very bumpy and rutted road (I use the "road" loosely!) from the small town of Machachi, which is about an hours drive from downtown... More

Hacienda Porvenir is a beautiful spot at the foot of Cotopaxi volcano. We enjoyed the self-guided hiking trails, as well as a guided tour of Cotopaxi (we made it to the base camp...huffing and puffing!) and Lake Limpiopungo, as well as some Inca ruins in the national park. A horseback ride into the hills was well worth it, and the... More

If you are looking for an all inclusive activity field Hacienda in the foothills of Cotopaxi National Park why not try the Hacienda Porvenir? I stayed there from Dec. 18 thru Dec. 22. The Hacienda is a working farm filled with charm. The owners are interested in your well being, comfort, and do a great job looking after you. Depending... More

We stayed two nights at the hacienda porvenir in the suite rooms which are very cozy. Upon arrival we found out that most of the activities during our stay were sold out and that we should have booked them in advance but this was not mentioned when we made the booking. The food at the restaurant was good but the... More

A wonderful location near Cotopaxi. The rooms are comfortable and (thankfully) with heating. The hot water bottle was a great touch. The lounge is comfortable and the food and service very good. If you want to stay in beautiful surroundings just outside the Cotopaxi National Park this is a great place to choose.

We intended to stay 2 nights but had to cut short due to illness which prompted us to go back to Quito for treatment. Arriving at this hacienda was quite epic as our taxi driver from Quito ($45) did not know the way. Finally, the road to the hacienda is steep, long and uneven. Better to have a 4 wheel... More

Hacienda El Porvenir was one of our favorite places on our travels. We booked one of the cheaper Machai rooms, but they put us in a nice room by mistake. We were sold, so we decided to splurge and it keep it! The Machai rooms were upstairs in the main house. They looked somewhat comfortable but they only had curtains... More
