Sorry to say but Beutiful Saranac Lake has the worst hotel called Hotel Saranac. It was a wonderful place to stay during Paul Smith's days. I would suggest every tourist who wants to visit saranac lake, DO NOT STAY IN HOTEL SARANAC. After reading most of the reviews on this site i still stayed at the Hotel because i did... more

My Great Great Grandfather built Camp Cherokee on Upper Saranac Lake in the 1890's and our family has been vacationing in the Adirondacks ever since. Over the years we have never failed to visit the hotel for drinks or meals even if we were not staying there. We always looked forward to those visits and until this trip, we were... more

We made reservations at the Hotel Saranac for the Columbus Day weekend. We have vacationed in Saranac Lake for years and we have eaten meals at the hotel but had never stayed there and decided to on this trip. It was apparent from the moment we stepped into the lobby that something had changed. The restuarant that served breakfast and... more

The years have not been good to this hotel. From the pictures it looks like it was once a very fine hotel but today it's run-down, ill-maintained, dingy and in need of a lot of repairs to even bring it up to acceptable standards. From the outside it looks like an abandoned hospital. It's a large nondescript red brick building... more

My husband and I spent our first wedding anniversary up at the hotel saranac this past weekend. I am a PSC alumni, and worked a summer at this hotel back in 2001 when the college still owned it. Though the owners have changed, I don't think the quality of hotel had gone down that much since then. Unfortunately, the upscale... more

The hotel website described a beautiful scenic historic hotel complete with a lounge and full dining room service. We found instead a rundown hotel who has obvioulsy seen better days. Our first room had no functioning outlets including lights and tv. We were given a second room which had one burned out lightbulb and a bathroom that was approximatly 4... more

Not what it was. When you go to an establishment like the Hotel Saranac you do so for one of two reasons. First, the hotel is in the town that is your destination and it is convenient or second, because the hotel itself is your destination. My wife and I went to Saranac Lake specifically to stay at the hotel,... more

The venerable Saranac Hotel has gone through a make-over that has modernized the facility but kept some of its historic charm. The staff was very friendly and eager to please. We stayed in two different rooms both were large clean well maintained and modern. The restaurant in the hotel features Indian food and it was very good. It was a... more

We made a reservation here with some trepidation due to the reviews we had read here - but we have traveled extensively in the US and Europe, and felt the historic vibe of the Hotel Saranac was worth the risk. When we arrived we were given keys to a room with a queen bed, and it was a standard room.... more
