We have stayed here twice now in the fall to enjoy the hiking in the area. Rooms are clean, cute, cozy, and comfortable! Staff is helpful and friendly. Breakfast is so delicious, best pancakes I ever had. It is a quick walk into town to explore or enjoy the many restaurants. We will stay here again!

The Paradox Lodge is a place we return to every trip we take to Lake Placid for many reasons. The adirondack decor makes this lodge feel very homey. The owners, Nan & Red have made us feel at home every stay. Their hospitality would be hard to match. The rooms are really quaint and kept very clean. The location is... More

My wife and I were treated to a weekend at the Paradox Lodge n the village of Lake Placid,NY, site of the 1932 & 1980 winter Olympics, in NYS's beautiful Adirondack Mountains. Owners Moses ("Red") LaFountaine and his wife Nan totally renovated this 30 yr. abandoned property in the late 1990's into a charming, inviting setting that reflects the lore,... More

We stayed in the Treetop Suite for 2 nights and enjoyed it a lot. It is not super high end, but there is a lot of attention to detail that creates a very homey feel. The bed was actually wonderful--have not slept in a hotel bed that well in a long time. It is a bit off the main drag... More

The establishment pretended that I had never rescheduled my fully prepaid booking, refusing to acknowledge their mistake and pocketing the money. The same person I spoke to became aggressive and rude over the phone, pretending that we have never spoken before. That only left us stranded in the middle of high season, looking for the very few and very overpriced... More

There must be some confusion here as we never charge guests in advance for their stay with us. We charge at the time of check out. The only time we ask for a deposit (25%) is during the Ironman competition. We also always offer guests a rain check (once) if they need to reschedule their stay. Unfortunately we think this... More

Every new year we try to find a new and fun place on the East Coast to go to for New Years. Originally we planned on the Golden Arrow in Lake Placid, but after reading some of the reviews, both bad and good, we switched to the Paradox and were glad we did. The Paradox is about a 7min walk... More

I am from Greenwich, CT, just 30 minutes outside of the Great NYC! I have eaten in the best restaurants and stayed in the finest hotels. I cannot believe how Nan and Chef Red have woven the best of Manhattan into their fine dining and superb lodging in a pristine Adirondack atmosphere. Let's start with the fine dining. They have... We stayed in the Treetop Room for just one night. The room is located at the top of the staircase in the main inn and we did not see other guests this midweek night. The room faces the southern most point of Lake Placid but it was a bit hard to capture a waterfront feel through the foliage in the... More

Lake Placid had always been a favourite R&R destination, but after discovering it, Paradox Lodge became the destination - one we have returned to many times over many years. A truly unique B&B offering comfortable accommodation with a truly Adirondack atmosphere. Each room has its own personality created with flair by Nan and “Red,” the hosts/owners of the Lodge. Our... I have stayed in the Lodge four times. Each has been a unique and positive experience. I highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for great food as the breakfast was delicious and dinner was one if a kind! Could not have been better.
