More than any other camp in Africa, Mwamba was ideal for photographers. The guides all understood where to position the vehicle, the importance of the light, and where to locate an abundance of animals. Their personal hides guarantee ample time to sit, study, and photograph the animals. The staff is also very considerate of the non-photographer spouse.

Dear Lorraine, Thank you so much for taking the time to post your review on Trip Advisor. Your kind words are an encouragement to all of us at Shenton Safaris. We do indeed try to take the best possible care of keen photographers, but equally so of their non-photographer spouse, or all wildlife enthusiasts in general. Our aim is to... More

The best safari camps are those where you don't even have to go on a drive to have great wildlife interaction. My experience at Mwamba ranks among the best. The most memorable was the day a group of elephants decided to browse the trees right in the camp. For hours, I was unable to reach my hut because the elephants... More

Dear "Wildlife-Photo-Pro", It is so fun to read your review, thank you for posting it on Trip Advisor. Wildlife at both Kaingo and Mwamba definitely owns the place! I'm delighted to read that you have enjoyed such encounters, and your overall stay at both camps. And also to read of your desire to return, and visit again our little corner... More

loved the intimate nature of the camp with only 6 guests at a time you feel like you have this remote spot to yourselves and the wildlife. From the hide, we watched a pride of 20 lions hunting impala at the waterhole and we were so close to a family of elephants that were bathing and drinking. Excellent lighting for... More

Dear Judy! Thank you so much for posting your review on Trip Advisor. I'm so delighted to see that you have enjoyed the exclusivity of Mwamba, and the excellent observation opportunities that the hide, located right in camp, offers! What a sighting those 20 lions! I saw that you were also at Kaingo, and you were right to stay at... More

Spectacular companion camp to Kaingo. Fabulous isolation and deliberately much less sophistication, but an amazing place to visit right in the middle of the bush. Surrounded by elephants and lions. Not for the fainthearted as the animals definitely view the places as home as well, but fantastic game viewing. For us, the fact that we were the only guests there... More

We especially loved this camp maybe because we spent 4 nights here and because it is small taking only 6 guests. Because of this we got to know our guide, Kennedy, and Debbie, the manager, more than at the other camps. Mwamba has a wonderfully rustic bush camp feel to it. However you are not roughing it at all. The... More

Dear "Travellingdays"! Thank you for your wonderful review of Mwamba. I am so glad that you have enjoyed our little bush camp, for all it has to offer. Including the frequent visitors (nights can be noisy!). The hide at Mwamba is also one of my favorite place to relax and watch whatever comes down to drink. I hope we can... More

One of our favourite camps in Zambia. Intimate, with a real "in the bush" feel to it. Lovely bar and dining area, and a great hide overlooking a productive pumped waterhole. Sitting in the hide after returning from a morning drive and just watching what happens is a relaxing, and sometimes thrilling experience. Derek - I'm sure you could bill... More

Dear Martin! Thank you so much for posting your review on Trip Advisor! We are so happy that you have enjoyed your time at Mwamba, even if the hide does get hot in October! But I think it is the thrill of the ellies coming so close that gives you the sweat! Thank you so much for praising our team,... More

Each to their own I guess – some people might not like the small size, significant simplicity, and wonderful remoteness of Mwamba Bush Camp operated by Shenton Safaris in the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. (It is run in conjunction with their 12-bedded main camp, Kaingo, which is about six kilometres away as the vulture flies.) But I love... More

Mwamba might not share the magic location of Shenton’s Kaingo camp but tops up in isolation and the feeling of being in the heart of the bush. It’s closer to Eden here. The 3 days we spend in Mwamba were really not enough. I think I could stay here for months… We were surrounded by animals all the time. Game... More

After a stimulating stay at Kaingo we walked/strolled in the early morning across to Mwamba. What a treasure! Only a maximum of 6 guests in 3 delightful lodges. Thatched roof, woven window dressings, large, comfortable bed and "open to the stars" bathroom and toilet. Unexpectedly (given our relatively remote location) food, service and hospitality were absolutely first class. Debbie set... More

Having spent 4 nights at Kaingo Camp I didn't think things could get much better but Mwamba really is everything you could wish for when looking for a truly wilderness safari experience.
