This place enjoys the advantage of being sensitively set in a quite stunning landscape. The room was spacious and comfortable and the bathroom was unique with water pressure to burn. The bar staff and waiters were a bit too lax and informal for our liking, bordering on over-friendly in some cases. The far bigger concern was the food, which was... More

As already mentioned by other reviewers the rooms are absolutely fabulous and the location is magnificent. We received a warm welcome form the manager with a nice welcome drink. Our room was at the edge of the camp and we had a wonderful view. A pleasant surprise was that our car was washed. We would like to take the opportunity... More

Beautiful accommodations, really well incorporated into the landscape. Welcoming staff, very cheerful and always wanting to make sure you had everything you needed. Very unique rooms that were built into the granite boulder formations, and outdoor bathrooms from which you could admire the sunset and the stars! Well equipped, but no laundry service to conserve water. Highly recommend doing the... More

We spent only one night at Camp Kipwe on our road through Damaraland. It was really a great stop. The surroundings are beautiful, with impressive formations of red rocks. The Camp itself is well integrated in the landscape. Bungalows were nicely designed and well-equiped. The staff was friendly and competent. They climbed all their way to the sunset point to... More

If I could do it again I would make this a 2 night stay instead of just one. Camp Kipwe was excellent. The rooms were incredibly clean, dinner was amazing, and staff went above and beyond in everything the did. The views at Camp Kipwe of the surrounding area are fantastic. As another reviewer mentioned they even washed our car... More

Camp Kipwe was a welcome sight after a very long drive. Rooms were unique, particularly bathrooms. Great view of the sunset from the top of the rocks. Food was excellent and we served by Marius throughout our stay who was fantastic. Car was washed on the day of the departure which was a nice surprise. It was a great way... More

We stayed for 2 nights, at Camp Kipwe, another excellent accommodation in Damaraland. As has been commented, the suites are built into the rocks, and give one a real “hobbit” experience. We were there at a time of high temperatures and the rocks acted as night storage heaters- thankfully our room had aircon, not all did- although we did see... More

An accommodation built sympathetically into its rock location - a unique and isolated place to stay with good food, good clean rooms and all open-air facilities. The elevated viewing atop the rock gives unobstructed views to distant horizons and an ideal opportunity to witness incredibly colourful sunsets or sunrises. The staff are always on hand to provide the best of... More

Camp Kipwe was another stopover because the distance between places we wished to go to we're too far to be driven in a day. However It was worth the stop as Camp Kipwe was the nicest place we stayed at. Having experienced showering and toilet in the open air at Tok Tokkie we were not worried that the wash basin,... More

A lovely place to stay in Damaraland if you like ethnic style, and can cope with the idea of outside bathrooms- these are really only an issue in the middle of the day ( too hot) or middle of the night ( a bit scary)! The traditional style mud hut rooms keep cool anyway, but there is also air con... More
