The first thing to note is that the South Africans call these "Private Game Reserves", game farms, which is what they are: Former farms, whose owners realised they could make more money from wildlife than from cattle, sheep or citrus farming. We stayed at Shamwari for 2 nights. We were welcomed with grenadine and lemonade and showed to our tents. We stayed in Bayethe tented lodge which is made up of 11 tented lodges which all have king size beds with electric blankets (which they switched on during dinner, nice and toasty when you got back). This was the second wildlife reserve of our stay. Riverdene Lodge was the opposite of the first - very Edwardian/Colonial in feel.
