This place is truly outstanding. We went with our two teenage children (17 & 15) and originally booked to stay for three nights. It was so good we extended our stay there. The lodge only sleeps 8 in 4 detached mini lodges. Whilst we were there there was only one other couple staying which led you to believe you were... More

Hi BenteM_11, thank you for your very positive review. We are glad you loved it and are looking forward to having you back again. Being in the bushveld and such a small intimate lodge a wide variety of wine can be difficult, we will however definitely find a way to improve this so you can enjoy a wider variety in... More

We had a fantastic time at this small lodge. We were there for three nights and the first two, we were only 6 people and the third night, the lodge was full (8 people). The rooms were beautiful and comfortable, for a change the chairs on the balcony were relaxing to sit in, so when the elephants were feeding just... More

Hi BenteM_11, a big thank you for your enthusiastic review of your time spent at our lodge. We really are chuffed that you had such a magical time. Being such an intimate lodge catering for small parties and being in the bushveld wine can be a small problem. The staff have however come up with a few ways to rectify... More

We returned from South Africa last weekend and on the top of my "to do list" was to post a review on this fabulous lodge. Once the road to the main entrance of Thornybush Reserve had been conquered everything moved like clockwork! We could not fault any member of the Waterbuck Lodge team...from the ranger, Gareth, to the tracker Vusi,... More

It's is a little bit of Edenin the African bush. The lodge and bungalows are beautiful, the food is excellent and all the people who work there are fantastic. Hannes and Lodrick(?) were our guide and tracker. They obviously love their jobs and animals and it shows by making it an unbelievable experience. Highly recommended.

We went to Waterbuck Lodge to kick off our honeymoon and we couldn't have asked for anything better. The tracker (Vusi) and ranger (Gareth) did everything possible to enable us to see what we wanted and we ended up seeing a leopard, cheetah, lions, buffalo, hyena, elephants, rhino, hippo, crocodiles- the list goes on. There are only 4 lodges so... More

Gareth and Taryn, thank you for being great host. We had such a good time on safari and hanging out in the boma with you two. Amazing small quaint lodge with incredible hosts with knowledge. From the time we arrived until we left staff was always helpful and did whatever it took to make us happy. They were nice enough... More

Our first safari and could not have chosen better. Visiting Waterbuck Lodge on Thornybush Estate was like a private house party as there are only four villas. 2 were occupied by Americans and 2 by Brits. The tracker, Loderick, and driver, Gareth were so knowledgable and Thornybush has strict rules for them which makes the experience so good as opposed... More

What can I say? What an amazing place….My wife and I decided to take a trip to Africa. We were originally booked at Kapama for a week because we saw all of the good reviews online. A few weeks before our trip, a flood came and wiped out the camp we were supposed to stay in at the Kapama Reserve.... More
