Tydon Safari Camp and its smaller sister camp, Tydon Bush Camp, are both are excellent. First, a quick overview: Sabi Sabi Reserve: Private reserve where you are allowed to drive off the road. No fences between it and Kruger, so all the same animals. Very few people. Very easy to get up close and personal with the wildlife. Kruger Nat'l... More

Gavin, his wife and team made our one night stay very special. The food is homemade and delicious (my children loved it), the experience of staying a a Tented Camp (very luxurious though) was wonderful and being just outside the Sabi Sands Gate meant my 8yr old could stay as well. We drove into Sabi Sands with Debbie who is... More

I have recently returned from my third Tydon Safari trip. They are just the best. Very high quality - tents/attention to detail/guides/food Gavin is an amazing host and he seems to be able to select the best guides. I very highly recommend Gavin and his team and hope to return to try the Bush Camp. A great experience every time... More

We are a group of 4 friends and did the 3 night safari trip option. We were collected and returned to Johannesburg airport, the transfers were on time and we had quite a lot of fun chatting to Gavin on the journey to Tydon and with Charleen and 2 other guests on the return trip. Gavin is very passionate about... More

Anyone who is thinking about going to South Africa for a safari but doesn't quite know what to expect or how to get started... you only know that you want a real adventure... you should definitely consider Tydon Safari Camp (or their nearby Bush Camp) as the place for your first safari. This review is about a year overdue. I stayed last year for a five day Kruger/Sabi Sand Safari. It was an amazing experience all the way around. I used all the excellent reviews to make the decision to stay here. I was very glad I did. Gavin was such an amazing host. Hanging out with him and the others around... More

We stayed for an entire week in Tydon's bush camp, something I really, sincerely, recommend. The first afternoon's sightings of white rhinoceros, giraffes, zebras, kudu antelopes and wart-hogs were mind-blowing. Then everyday came up with new surprises – a leopard stalking impalas in the dry grass, playful baby elephants pestering sleepy buffalos at the riverbank, dwarf mongooses chasing away a... More

We had the most wonderful experience staying at Tydon. We were traveling as a couple and did a 5 day Capetown followed with a 3 day Tydon camp safari. So our schedule started with a pickup at the Johannesburg airport and a wonderful drive down to Tydon. The best thing about our experience was the awesome Tydon team.. Gavin, Vangie,... More

My family and I had the loveliest stay at Tydon. The staff were so accommodating and made our stay great. Vangie and Gavin were most pleasant and fun. Email communication was fantastic not knowing South Africa at all. The food was AMAZING you never went hungry. The best part about it was that the meals were very traditional african dishes.... More
