Flies in the room. Terrible smell. No service from the over worked hosts. The train tracks are right behind the hotel. It was noisy. It was also pricey at $98.00 a night due to hunting season and a shooting competition that was taking place nearby. The room was in disrepair, my husband and I were pretty much horrified. It was abominable, I would sooner sleep behind a gas station.

My husband and I decided to take a quick trip to Ute Lake and did not feel like camping. Which is what we normally do. I called the Lodge and made reservations before we headed that way from Amarillo. Check in was simple and fast. The owners live on-site and were absolutely fantastic. We had several conversations with them and other guests when we weren't on the lake. The rooms were exactly what we needed for our stay. They were basic, clean, and comfortable. There was a mini-fridge and microwave for use in the room. There was fresh coffee offered at the front desk. There is a small playground that our son, niece, & nephew enjoyed too. The Lodge does not have roll-aways for extra guests but, we took one of our camping cots with us so that all of us could stay in the same room. We would definitely stay here again.

The room was wonderful. The kids loved the color changing shower heads! the room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was amazing and really went way above and beyond to help us out. Our vacation would have been cut very short if not for the wonderful kindness of the staff. We go out to Ute lake a lot during the summer and we definitely found our home away from home!

Folks at the front desk were nice and told us if we needed anything just to ask. The rate was $55.00 a night which driving up to the place looked somewhat high to me. The room (17) was what I expected....somewhat old and out dated but I try and make the most of things. Tried to turn on the A/C and it wouldn't come on........wasn't plugged in. Left it running and went to eat. Came back and the room was somewhat cool, not a comfortable temp, just ok. And then I heard it the first time........when the A/C cycled it ( and I not kidding ) it sounded like someone had slammed a door shut ! So I turned just the fan on and had the ceiling fan on, it was a long hot night.

At least it wasn't a tent in 100 degree weather. We can't believe the other reviews were written about the same motel! We've stayed in fishing camps with bare necessities that were nicer. (see photos) We stayed in room #11. We'll start with the positives--the window-mounted air conditioner worked(although it was duct-taped in the window and the plug situation inside looked questionable), the ceiling fan worked and the water pressure in the bathroom was good. The bed was large and more comfortable than an inflatable mattress. However, the bedding looked like it was from the 80's and the fitted sheet was so large it kept wadding up under us. There was a coffeemaker but no cups and the coffeemaker didn't reach the outlet. The phone did not work. The walls were damaged and patched(NOT patched as in ready to paint), tiles in the bathroom had several large cracks running through them. We were unable to tell if the room was clean because the carpet was so stained, walls dingy and it didn't have a "cleaned smell". We were out of toilet paper the first morning and went to the front desk at 8:30 and rang bell several times before a woman shuffled out looking as if she just got out of bed. The cafe/restaurant the other reviews speak of is not there anymore(not their fault but fyi)..You're required to stay two nights and they didn't come in and make the bed. I'm not sure about the "room service" listed in their amenities. We were charged $80.00(including tax) per night. I understand from the owner's other responses they're making renovations but knowing this room was in this condition we should've been given a disclaimer and if we chose to book anyway a cheaper rate. Oh, and the swimming pool listed in their amenities doesn't have any water in it either. We really are not high maintenance travelers but you look at the photos and judge for yourself. In this case, 11 definitely is not a lucky number.

Response from lourdes a, Owner at Logan Lodge
Responded 7 Mar 2013
I am truly sorry that due to sold out status that you were placed in one of the three rooms that have not been renovated. I did not get the chance to meet you as I was on Holiday myself however, its always my policy to give me a call and the next trip to Logan we will be more than happy to issue you a complimentary stay. I want to always receive the positives and negatives while staying with us, that is whats makes us improve each year. Sorry room 11 - 13 has not even been renovated except for the new beds, and linens, flatscreens.

We stayed at the Logan Lodge on a very quick business trip. We arrived late and rang the bell for service. The motel owner greeted us quickly and was very friendly. We chatted for awhile as she told us she was from Chicago and in the process of renovating the small Inn. We stayed in Room 18 for $44. Pros - the room was CLEAN and spacious, Microwave, fridge, coffee maker, flat screen TV, nice pillows, good mattress. Cons - the hotel is old, it had a wall unit air conditioner (that worked great), shower head is very low in the shower but had good pressure, bathroom vanity is small. Gitchy - we had a REAL KEY to get in our room, the flower pots were old cattle feed tubs, the paintings on the wall were very New Mexican, and the parking lot is old gravel that sounds so cool when you drive over it. The owner took time to brew us fresh Starbucks coffee in the morning and would have fed us a continental breakfast had we had the time to stay. I would stay here again.

Thank you for your choosing Logan Lodge. The renovation process is temporarily on hold until our summer ends. We continue to stretch to make everyone feel welcomed. The place is over 50 years old however, we will get to the bathroom vanities, showers, carpet in the late late fall. We want to always make each and every one of our guests to feel important and to have whatever they need. A map, a band-aid, and late late night check-in, late check out. We are here to "HOST" you and we do hope you continue to stay with us and come everytime you are driving through.

We travel down Hwy 54 at least twice a year, and have stayed in most of the small towns from Liberal to Santa Rosa. Some of these smaller towns have such noisy trains coming thru at all hours, we decided to give the Logan Lodge a try. We were very pleased. A wind storm had come thru earlier in the day, so the wi-fi and phones were not working. However, the owner more than made up for it. We had an issue with the heater, and they took care of it pronto. And, they were readily available and extremely prompt whenever we needed anything. Plus, the beds were comfy! (There is a train track very close by, but the trains do not have to blow their whistles, so the stay was quiet!)

Thank you for staying with us. We have learned to become flexible with the weather conditions and the occasional power outages, phones out, and unfortunately that means wifi also. We continue to try and improve the quality of our service and will continue to renovate the rooms to full completion by fall of 2012. Come back and see us again, we always love our return guests....and the little dogs as well.

The new owner treated everyone who stayed fishing tournament great, she was up at 3:00 am with us fixing food for us. All the tournament fisherman got free ice for boats everyday she made sure everyone could get boats parked and get them out. The room was nice and clean great beds nice flat screen tv. For tournament fisherman she let us leave are stuff in room till after tournament on Sunday 3:00 pm. The only draw back was the a/c it was over 100 everyday we were on the water by 4:30 AM and off by 3:00 everyday. The only thing we wanted was to cool off, the a/c in room 12 was just to small. It would not start cooling room till around 2:00 AM you would lay in bed sweating trying to sleep. Don't know if all rooms this way or just 12, even pulled the filter and washed all the dirt out.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It's pet friendly and the new owners are truly wonderful. The linens are top, top quality, the room was spotless, the breakfast incredible, and the king sized bed was the most comfortable bed either of us have slept in during our entire lives. Plenty of hot water pours through the super fun lighted shower heads- a touch of big city class in the desert. If you're traveling through New Mexico, schedule your drive to stay here- it's seriously a notch above anything you'll find between Amarillo and Albuquerque. Rates very reasonable. Delicious coffee and fancy fixings for the coffee etc., seriously tasty fresh bagels with fine cheese spreads, omg, it was just all incredible. TLC care to sooth the soul, there were many "Ahhh moments' for us throughout our stay. Our dogs loved it too.

Thanks so much, we remember you well and your beautiful dogs. We always welcome the family pets, and hope they too find it a friendly place. We have such a wonderful conversation with you and your husband and enjoyed the morning coffee together when we could. Linda Kay, the housekeeper had such a wonderful feeling about you two and hope you will choose us again whenever you are in Logan or coming to Ute Lake for holiday.
