This hotel requires a bit of explanation. It is very different from any other hotel that we stayed at in Bhutan. It was built a number of years ago by a Swiss ex-pat. The restaurant looks like an AMC hut. The menu includes fondues and several German-Swiss dishes as well as the usual Bhutanese fare. Apparently, the owner also started... More

Set in the middle of an orchard, this place provides a different kind of stay from other places in Bhutan. The rooms are large, wood paneled and attractive, and each has a wood stove (which was lighted and warm when we arrived). The Swiss background of the owner is apparent everywhere - from the decor in the cozy dining room/bar (with... Let's preface this review. If you're reading this, you're planning on visiting the Bumthang valley in Bhutan. And, instead of choosing a "luxury" hotel that would give you the experience of a hotel close to home, you're choosing one that gives you a better taste of the local experience. Fine and good. But let me remind you: You're in the... More

Travelling Bhutan is an absolute delight but the last thing I thought I would experience is a meal prepared by a Swiss trained chef. This is exactly what travellers experience at the Swiss Guest House. What a treat!!! The chef is young but he can certainly make the taste buds want more.

Lovely hotel with cosy, clean and large rooms. You can actually drink spring water straight from the tap. And speaking of taps, its the only place to get the amazing Red Panda beer on tap! The pizza is pretty decent and the staff is awesome - friendly and free with advice on treks. One of the highlights of our stay... More

We arrived at the Swiss Guest House late at night after a long drive from Thimphu to Bumthang. We were happy to find a very cute, traditionally decorated pinewood room with a wood burning stove in a beautiful wood and stone building that felt like cabin in the woods with a Swiss/Bhutanese design. Set in an apple orchard with view... More

First, I do not rate hotels in Bhutan by international but rather by local standards. Most hoteliers there have never had a chance to leave the country & don't fully understand what international guests may expect but they try very hard. This was one of the best overall stays in our 2 weeks in Bhutan - very friendly with excellent... More

Its cozy, cozy, cozy. Just picture perfect..And the food is simply heavenly. And the breakfast deserves a special mention. Fresh, fresh, fresh is the mantra here. We would actually wake up early, just to... More

Either the place has changed since the 2 bad reviews, or the folks writing them have higher standards than us (possible !) The wood stoves in the rooms were v welcome, our bathroom the best of our trip with a big space for large shower, and there was a littlle balcony. (I don't know that the bungalow type rooms are... The swiss inn is a family owned guest house with a lot to offer: self made food from cheese over bread to swiss rösti. I was staying with a few friends there and we had beautyfull, totally new rooms (see picture9 with nice beds and bathrooms. The food was the best all over Bhutan and the people working there furfilled... More
