Beware - this place makes out it is a 'resort' when in reality it is no more than a collection of dirty basic rooms alongside a badly run restaurant. We booked through agoda.com as the site advertised the 'beach front suite' on special offer down from $198 to $84 per night. On arrival we found our beach front suite to... More

I was a little apprehensive staying here after reading the mixed reviews on tripadvisor but my worries were gone on arrival. We were picked up on arrival at the airport and the journey to the resort was about 35 minutes. We stayed in a garden view bungalow and it was clean and comfortable with mosquito nets provided (which is a... More

We wanted to get away from the very busy tourist area of Duong Dong so we headed up to the North West part of the island, to the Mai Phuong beach resort.Shortly after arrival, we checked into ur beach view bungalow for a two day stay. The bungalows were a decent size and pretty clean inside. Our bungalow #3 had... More

I've stayed at Mai Phuong twice in 2010 and loved both visits. Yes, it is very far away from town, down a dusty red dirt road but the isolation is part of the charm! The seafood was excellent, and many local Vietnamese visit the restaurant for the delicious food. There's a beautiful white sand beach just a 10 minute walk... More

We ate here for lunch twice and found the portions ample, lots of choice and lovely pleasant staff. Prices the same, if a little less than other places for similar quality. Great views over the quiet secluded beach at the top southern part of the island.

Originally lead on by a review in the Sydney Morning Herald, Phu Quoc, was supposed to be some new paradise. We were supposed to do a 10 day stay at Mai Phuong Beach resort, but ended up leaving 4 days early. We would have gotten out sooner but Vietnam Airlines couldn't work it out. Rather than ranting about my experience,... More

We originally booked and paid to stay for 3 nights but only stayed for 2 and found other accomodation for the third night even though we money. Mai phuong is in the middle on nowhere, the rooms are shabby and not very clean. Food and drink is expensive compared to other places on the island. Staff not very friendly.

We stayed only one night as everywhere else was full. We had the deluxe seaview, nothing very deluxe about it though! PRO'S Right on the beach, albeit a very tiny and narrow beach. Great location if you like being in the middle of nowhere. nice food but double price of places in town. We had two double beds in the... More

Of course there was no pool, no air conditionning and the beach at the hotel was so-so but there was plenty of beaches around and we could rent motorbikes and explore the island, and it was quiet. The staff was very friendly and the menu was elaborate and the food was exquisite. In fact it turned out to be one... More

The hotel is located in the middle of nowhere. Bikes would be available for rent; they weren't. There would be internet; there wasn't. There would be a seafront bungalow; there wasn't. We made a fuzz about it and eventually got one that was seafront. Basic room with a very smelly bathroom. Cuz of the 'middle of nowhere-issue' you're forced to... More
