La Fontaine is a bit of a time warp in ever so trendy (and quite honestly somewhat pretentious) Franschhoek. It's walking distance to an amazing choice of top places to eat and a quite comfortable place to stay. Lovely garden and pool (I agree with previous comment about it being a tad cold!) but the rooms and general decor and... more

Felt very welcome when we pitched up at the door of La Fontaine without notice. Looking for a twin room, the manager worked some magic and managed to arrange it so we could be a twin room for 3 nights without having to move rooms. Location was excellent for a stroll down the main street, walkable distance to restaurants shops... more

My sister and i enjoyed a 2 night stay at La Fontaine and were impressed with the service - restaurants booked for us well in advance of our arrival and advice given whilst on site. We had a twin room in one of the separate buildings which was fine and had a huge bathroom. Unfortunately also noisy if your neighbours... more

We stayed one night in the Lemon Suite, which opens almost directly onto the swimming pool. The room was lovely. A lot of space, although as the weather was hot we didn't really spend any time in it other than to sleep. Breakfast is excellent - a good choice and served in the garden. The service at La Fontaine is... more

Overall our experience wasn't bad - the location is central, and the staff were super-friendly and went out of their way to handle our special requests ... But when one spends a large amount of money for a four-star lodge, there are a few conveniences we expected, and we left feeling that we paid too much. For starters there was... more

La Fontaine was a real teat with the children. we stayed in 2 other 5 Star guest houses whilst in South Africa but actually loved staying at La Fontaine the most. Kathy was wonderful with the children and all her staff very friendly. Although this is a 4 star guest house the hospitality is very much 5 star. The stable... more

I loved this B&B. We stayed for 2 nights in beautiful Franschhoek. The rooms were comfortable and clean. There was a large bathroom with a giant bathtub perfect for soaks after long days of touring Stellenbosch and tasting wine. We especially appreciated the self service bar and complimentary port and sherry so we could wind down and talk about the... more

We stayed a night here while on the Garden Route. La Fontaine is thoughtfully decorated, run by friendly staff and serves an excellent breakfast. The Guest House used to be an old school boarding hostel and has a traditional feel to it, in keeping with much of Franschoek. its a block behind the main strip where the restaurants like Reubens... more

We stumbled upon La Fontaine late on a rainy night and were very thankful that they had a room available for us. What we didn't realize was how gorgeous the room would be. It was very large with a fireplace, kitchen, sitting room, and enormous bathroom. Unlike many other hotels in South Africa, it's actually warm in the winter! The... more

We had a lovely couple of nights here. The room was large and decorated to a high standard with beautiful views from the window. There was also a separate sharing living room with a balcony and fridge full of drinks. The guest house owners were very helpful, booking our restaurant on our first night and also dropping us off at... more
