We arrived to this beautiful part of SA and this beautiful hotel, it is absolutely gorgeous and Hazel is just wonderful, great advise about where to go and what to do as we were only there one night. We had to leave early in the morning so we didn't get to experience the full delight of the breakfast but what... More

Unfortunately we could only spent one night in the beautiful Akademie Street Boutique Hotel but although it was a short stopover we can highly recommend this place. Our room was very nice and we felt comfortable from the very first moment on. The warm welcome, the excellent breakfast (best breakfast we had during our 14day trip through ZA) and the very... More

From the moment we stepped into Akademie the sense of art appreciation and love of books was felt. The decor of Twyfeling, our balconied double storey house was special. The Illy Coffee machine, fridge filled with gratis bottled water, bubbly, beer and G&T's as well as fresh milk. Fluffy towels on heated towel rails, honeycomb dressing gowns and slippers and... More

The first thing that strikes you is the attention to detail, be it the comfort of the bed, quietness in the property, artistic decor(both in rooms and near poolside),spacious bathrooms, choice of capsule coffee, most amazing fruits, luxurious breakfast and above all the warmth of owner, Catherine. Even though it was our first time to South Africa and after a... More

We stayed at the Akademie as the last leg of our honeymoon in early May 2013. Our first three stops were Londolozi, Rovos Rail, and Mt Nelson, and the Akademie was in the same level of comfort and a wonderful way to close things out. Just off the main strip in Franschhoek, the Akademie is within walking distance of everything... More

My wife and I spent five nights at the Akademie. We stayed in Ooirtgung Cottage (spelling probably not correct) which has a lot of history and is very charming; slightly secluded from the main house and other cottages it was perfect. Katherine could not have been more welcoming or helpful, she gave us lots of useful and is clearly a... More

We only had the pleasure of staying one night, and what a wonderful place to stay. The reviews don't really do it justice, but it's hard to describe perfection. We arrived to Arthur's smiling face and warm spirit. He advised us not to give up our lunch at Le Petit Ferme, and are we glad we didn't. The rest of... More

We needed a couple of nights in wine country to relax between safari and Cape Town...and this was a perfect choice. Breakfast in the courtyard is about as good as it gets. The few that went wine tasting had a wonderful day while those who stayed behind were quite glad to relax by the dip pool and read a book... More

We stayed here along with two friends for two nights in April on the recommendation of our travel company. Everything was perfect and our hosts were so helpful and could not do enough for us. Our accommodation in the main house, Twyfeling, was very spacious and our bathroom was delightful. We enjoyed having the delicious breakfasts, with fresh fruit platters... More

After our amazing Macatoo experience, we headed to Cape Town for a week, spending the first few days in Franschhoek in the Cape winelands. We found the wonderful Akadamie Street Boutique Hotel and Guest House on www.tripadvisor.com and they luckily found room for us. We stayed in the charming Vreugde ("joy") suite, with it's HUGE Cali King sized bed, glorious... More
