I have mixed comments about our stay at the Pillars. The property and overall feel of the home and gardens is tired and slightly neglected. Our room the Master had a comfortable bed and was clean but the common areas needed a general cleaning. The stairs and downstairs needed vacuuming. The general neighborhood felt like is was borderline safe for... more

We stayed at this B&B for two nights in September after looking at pictures on their web site. Lamont and Nancy are gracious hosts, and Lamont prepared great breakfasts both days. Nancy prepared a yummy baked item. Directions to local restaurants were appreciated, but directions to the train to NYC were poor. While the place is old and charming, this... more

We have just returned from our road trip to some of Canada and across to North & East states of America and I have to say that our stay at 'The Pillars' was spectacular, just like a page from a story book. The home is a gorgeous old Victorian B & B with each room decorated and kept to the... more

Myself and my 2 teenage sons had the most relaxing 3 night stay at this homely bed and breakfast run by a charming couple. Nothing was too much trouble. We were given comprehensive directions and information about the local area and beyond. Also a list of recommended restraunts of where to eat for a varied budget. The tastefully themed room... more

We visited this B&B on an open house. Though we did not stay there overnight it was charming to visit. The new owners are very nice people. We toured the home and are planning a visit very soon. The new owners are in the process of changing many things in the home. We spent much time talking with them. The... more

I spent several days at The Pillars in a lovely room (Yates) with a four poster canopy bed and a gas fireplace, that was clean and fresh. After reading an earlier review, I checked with the owners on the bathroom situation, and found that only one of the seven rooms has a hall bath (the room and bath are down... more

The hosts were very nice and helpful and the old house is charming. Unfortunatly we experienced in the Clementine Yates Suite a lack of cleanliness which was NOT acceptable. Especially at a price of $ 180 per night. Both the room and the bathroom were NOT cleaned with a rag for quite some time and NOT even vacuumed/dust cleaned. We... more

I stayed at this B&B for 2 nights over the Thanksgiving holiday. The first night I was the only "guest," however there is a long-term couple living there with a doberman (and the owners have their own large dog as well) and the other rooms were filled with family. The second night there was another couple staying there for business... more

We were out for a wedding on thanksgiving weekend- and tom and chuck were so welcoming! They made sure we were comfortable- and gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants and the french toast they make in the morning is awesome! I have stayed at alot of B&Bs- but the welcome we got from this one is by far the best... more

I travel for business. Sometimes my spouse joins me. Either way, we prefer staying at Bed and Breakfasts, and we've seen ALL KINDS! The good, the bad, and the truly outstanding. The Pillars falls into the latter camp. Chuck and Tom have done an incredible job of fixing up this old mansion, but what really makes staying there special is... more
