I have stayed at the Abbey several times and chose to stay there for my destination wedding in Cape May. I have the most beautiful wedding pictures to show for it, taken in my room, the parlor and porch. OK, so maybe it needs a paint job; maybe the carpets are a bit worn. This beautiful structure if over 150... More

We stayed at the Abbey for 2 nights. When we arrived we met Jay who gave us a warm welcome and brought us to our room. We stayed in the Natchez room in the tower which was beautiful. It was gorgeously decorated and had a private bath. The room was made up of a lot of windows with nice views... More

Just spent three nights there for the first time and we'll be back!! Built just a few years after the Civil War and still standing through numerous hurricanes and northeasters! Beauty and charm throughout. Twelve to fifteen foot ceilings, crown moldings, ruby glass over doors on first floor, huge windows, lovely Parlor, Library and Dining rooms. Thick plaster walls so... The outside of this b&b is a tad shabby (a little pealing paint, beat up screen doors, small stuff like that)but this somehow added to its Gothic charm. This place would be a must around Halloween. The inside is enchanting. All period furniture and fixings. The breakfast and afternoon tea was great and your only one short block from the... More

My husband and I just spent three great days at The Abbey. It's in a great location, just a block from the beach and two blocks to Carpenter's Lane and close to all restaurants. There's parking on the premises. Our host Jay greeted us every morning for breakfast and was eccentrically charming. Our room, The Saratoga, was spacious, well kept... More

I consult trip advisor every time I travel and trust most of the recommendations. This time I booked our stay at the Abbey before checking the reviews. Imagine my horror when I discover the Abbey is dead last out of the b&bs in cape may. I do feel like the four one-hit-wonder scathing reviews are probably left by one disgruntled... More

To be totally fair, there are some aspects to our stay at The Abbey that were wonderful. One of which is that they will accept a one-night stay, as opposed to most of the other B&B's that have a 2 night minimum in the busy season. So that was a plus for us because we could only get away for... More

Let me start by saying that the pictures on the web site are nothing like seeing this dump in person. Flee infested Parlor where my wife and I and other couples were complaining about bite mark on our legs. No central air in this swear box, 90 plus degrees inside. Air in room did not work either. Safety issues all... More

This B&B was falling down, dirty, disgusting and horrible. From it's flea-infested porch to its' Sanford & Son house and back porch - I thought I was in a terrible horror film. No AC permitted, except in your rooms on an "as needed" basis; you'll sweat just breathing! The carpetting is filthy, flea-infested and urine smelling. The paint on the... More

First and foremost, I never write reviews. My boyfriend and I live out of the DC area, and we travel up and down the east coast exploring different B&Bs. We planned a trip to Cape May last minute, so The Abbey was the only place available. We would have rather stayed in one of the cheap hotels along the "strip."... More
