Our room was very spacious and well appointed. The kitchen facility was modern and well equipped. The decor is a bit dated and it seems to vary depending on the room. We chose a deluxe room, which was nice but upon arrival it seemed the bathroom lightbulb was out so we asked for another one. It seemed not to be... more

I stayed here about 5 years ago and had a good time. I was kind of surprised by some of the reviews, but a friend of mine said he stayed there in January and it was fine. We went in February and it was beautiful. I don't if all the rooms are the same but ours was huge, clean, bright... more

The lodge has seen better days. Overpriced for what you get. I hope everything else at WV doesn't get the same money for the same quality or WV has a big problem. I didn't have a lot of time to do comparisons before booking our stay. We wanted to be walking distance to the Village Square while visiting for the... more

I had stayed at this hotel about a year ago and it was marginal at best. I returned only as a last resort as my wife and I had been traveling for leaf viewing and didn't want to drive back to Boston. To my pleasant surprise I found this place to have completely turned around. The lobby was fresh and... more

I should have paid more attention to the previous reviews on this property. These are individually-owned condo units, that are rented out for more than $200 per night. There does not seem to be a limit on the number of people that can be crammed into these 1 and 2-bedroom units. During our stay the hotel was FILLED with middle-school... more

We stayed at the Black Bear during school vacation week (MA vacation week, not NH's, which delays their vacation week to handle all the vacationers). 2 parents, 3 kids (ages 7, 5, 2), in a Deluxe Suite for 4 nights. I planned on skiing with the oldest 2 boys for 3 days, while my wife would take the youngest swimming... more

We just stayed for 2 nights over New Year's Eve. The place was crowded as was the entire village. Check in was easy and we were allowed to go to the room before the actual check in time. My 3 children wanted to go swimming right away so we did. The pool was not that warm inside or outside. I... more

We stayed with 6 people in a two-level loft suite over a weekend to go skiing. The suite was very spacious - a full kitchen, one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a loft area with two trundle beds (i.e. two twin beds with another two twin beds that could be pulled out from underneath - on the hotel web site... more

Big groups of kids with of without chaperones were in every part of the hotel. 10-15 kids were even sitting on the floor in the hallway eating from paper plates while the adults were cooking in the nearest room with the open door and the smell of the food were all over the hotel. Not sure what was the event,... more
