I must comment on my recent visit to the London Inn .... I ordered the Duck .. .and the vegetables were delicious.. BUT... the duck was pre portioned and had not much taste....... I expected to have them cook the whole duck and then debone it ... but I suppose that is too costly and they resort to pre portioned... We had a wonderful time at the New London Inn and would highly recommend it! The front desk people were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. On a dark and stormy night, we swung out of the highway in search of a warm and friendly place. We arrived after the receptionist had left for the night. No problem: a friendly sign gave her phone number and she was back and welcomed us within a few minutes. Despite the high ratings found on this website, a friend and I were very disappointed by our recent visit to the New London Inn. The tone was set at check-in. The young woman at the desk, while friendly and helpful, gave us a statement that we were required to sign. We just spent 2 lovely mid-week nights here, and can't wait to return. An easy 2-hour drive from the Boston area, with its traffic congestion and interminable drives to get anywhere, New London NH is the archetypical small New England town. It's quiet, although there is a lively tourist and local presence, and pretty, with lots of recreational opportunities close by and the New London Barn Theatre just down the street. My husband and I just returned from a wonderful trip to New London, New Hampshire. We stayed at the New London Inn, which is an old (parts of it date to 1792) inn on the Main St. of New London. The inn keepers, Bridget Leroy and Eric Johnson, were wonderful in helping us decide what area attractions we should see, and the inn was homey, comfortable, and the food was delicicious. This inn is well run with a very courteous and professional staff. The location is also ideal, right in the center of New London. The bathroom was small and a bit hard to navigate but clean nonetheless. Request a king or queen size room as opposed to a double if possible. Overall, a great choice. more
