Our stay at Thornhill was disappointing and over hyped by the website, and the phone staff. The inn is not nearly as polished, or presentable, as the photos and staff would have you think. The front office staff does try very hard, but the facility, and the extended staff does not measure up. The location IS great, and has nice... more

Growing each year since the fire, the Inn finds itself in a unique position between the family-run bed and breakfast that the Cooper's had started before the fire in October 2002, and our brand-new facility that is a bit larger than the original Inn. During the rebuild, the Cooper family chose to keep the comfortable feel of their property, and...

We recently stayed at the Inn for six nights for a romantic getaway / birthday vacation. The Inn's location is great for a getaway – nestled at the foothills of the White Mountains, isolated enough for a very quiet environment but within ten minutes drive to the shops and attractions of North Conway. We stayed in the Mt. Washington Room... more

My husband and I went for an anniversary dinner at the Inn and were very disappointed. The portions are so incredibly small, the entree is really the size of an appetiser. The porch is a beautiful place to sit and have a drink and the extensive wine list is admirable, however after dinner you go away still hungry.I am only glad I was not... more

During the months of July and August, we have found ourselves in an unexpected transition phase, in which we had to replace our chef. As many guests who travel know very well, this can be a difficult time for any restaurant, and during these times we try very hard to keep the noticable difficulties to a minimum in regards to...

The inn is a wonderful place for flat-out relaxation and regeneration. The location, the food, the accommodations, the welcoming atmosphere all combine for a memorable experience of New England at its best. more

We stayed three nights in the Mt. Jefferson Room. The king-bed room and bathroom were very spacious with excellent housekeeping. There were many nice extras in the room that one expects of an inn that aims for this calibre, e.g. robes, nice toiletries, fireplace, flat screen TV, jacuzzi tub (is this de riguer lately?) and much more. I think the... more

We always appreciate when a guest informs us of a disjoint between our policies and practices when staying with us. In response to our guests, we have always had a standing policy for those staying with us over four nights, where our chef will institute a menu change, or we will approach the guests directly and ask them if they...

My fiance and I stayed at the Inn for a romantic getaway and we could not have asked for any better. The staff are delightful, our room was very clean and everything we were hoping for and more. They even had classical music playing on the cd player in our room when we would come back from dinner! The food... more

Beautifully situated hotel. Our room was enormous with a huge bathroom with jacuzzi bath and separate shower. Very luxurious bed, TV, fire place etc. The downside for us was that it seemed almost entirely staffed by students on catering courses from the UK. Indeed many were from my home town. Whilst there is nothing wrong with this per se, and... more

The Inn at Thorn Hill has been educating students from UK Hospitality schools through our placement program for some time now, where students in both the front of the house and the kitchen are working directly with the staff and guests in every department within the inn to glean as much experience in the hospitality field as they can. July...

We scheduled a family gathering and dinner at the inn for a special occasion and we're very pleased. Steven could not have been more accomodating and eveything went off without a hitch. The food was very good, although maybe not "killer" as described beforehand. But certainly about the best in this area. Springtime here is beautiful, if the weather cooperates.... more

My wife and I were traveling on bikes to P.E.I. and used the Inn as a stopping point. After a long day of riding, we were so enthralled by the huge spa tub in room and the gracious views that our room had. When we went for dinner, the chef had prepared a 7 course tasting menu to fit our... more

Spent two days at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We booked the Washington Room which is their best room. The view from the windows is wonderful and the room was very comfortable. We found the staff and the owners of the hotel to be very friendly. We were in the mountains a little too early in the... more
