We stayed 2 nights in January, which also included morning cooking classes. I was asked if this was for a special occasion and let them know it was my husband's birthday gift. Our room had a bottle of champagne with birthday wishes waiting for us upon our arrival. The wood burning fireplace with the 2 chairs flanking it was nice... More

We stayed 2 nights for a birthday celebration. The staff did not leave out one detail. From arriving to a room with a bottle of champagne with birthday wishes to the many stacks of fire wood that was delivered daily, customized birthday menu at dinner. Each member of ths staff paid attention to our requests the first day and did... More

One way to loo at this is that this review is months old, another is that my wife and I just did a "travel year in review" (true) another way is that it took this long too get of it. The issue is the proprietors - specifically the woman who owns this place. We had a specific problem over labor... More

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel whilst touring New England and this hotel was probably the best we stayed at, but still there were some disappointing things. Positives:- Afternoon tea was served mid afternoon free of charge (as it is in most New England hotels) - English tea in bone china cups and saucers with lovely sandwiches and small... More

The Manor's restaurant is housed in a charming building/ole house/mansion with a lovely view of Squam Lake and reportedly the rooms are great though sorely overpriced. The restaurant (the formal one in the charming paneled pool room is always a visual great. But we have gone several times and must warn you, you're likely to be disappointed from the start.... More

What a magnificent location and place, with friendly staff, very good food and very comfortable rooms. This is also a good central location when coming to see the "Fall", hiking and touring the lakes. It is just like the movie of same name (filmed in the area). Open fire was a very nice touch, even with adequate central heating, when snowing... More

We live several miles from The Manor but never really considered it. Instead we traveled far and wide looking for a good special occasion restaurant only to find an endless supply of mediocre (or worse) food in the area. A handy coupon from Restaurant.com gave us inspiration to try it for my birthday and what a find! Very fresh salads,... More

Inside of rooms were lovely and comfortable. The exterior is falling apart with decks actually rotting away and siding peeling off. Restaurant service was unremarkable and the food less than mediocre. Breakfast in particular was terrible, hard boiled eggs Benedict on a plate with nothing else. Totally unappealing. Very sad to see this once proud property with such a spectacular... More

We stayed for 2 romantic nights during the fall of 2011 and we agree with most of the information in the other recent posts. We were initially disappointed that the Manor is across the road from Squam Lake so that you gaze across a fairly busy road to see the water. That being said, the food was of excellent quality,... We stayed here for a beautiful fall weekend. We had never been to New Hampshire before and maybe we just didn't look closely enough but this property is not ON golden pond. It's in a small town across the highway from the pond and across the street from the gas station. The lawn and the grounds are very pretty, the... More
