First off, if you equate excellence with grand fountains and marble columns upon entry into your 5 star resort, this is not your place. If you prefer low key, 'open' rooms with the sound of the ocean right out your window, the friendliest customer service imaginable, a truly unique jungle/beach setting, and a place with really good food, Playa Escondida... I have just returned from paradise! Playa Escondida is truly amazing. The rooms are charming and designed so that you feel as if you are outside, even when you are not. They have amazing views of the jungle or beach, depending on the room, and lots of open windows and doors, bringing all that beauty right into your room. The... More

First I must say this is a beautiful hotel, wonderful beach with superb views. The front desk staff were a pleasure. Our first night we tried the on site restuaunt, what a disaster.I ordered a USDA steak,my wife a rack of New Zealand lamb.My steak was over cooked, and tough. My wifes lamb raw,and brussel sprouts hard,(undercooked).By the time my wifes meal was re served I... We are very sorry that you did not have the perfect experience that most of our guests enjoy. Thank you for taking the time to share your criticism and to help us to improve. Our restaurant has been praised by many chefs, restaurateurs, foodies and gourmets, however, even the best have bad days. At our restaurant the day in question... More

After staying three nights in the small town of San Pancho, My friends (two couples) and I wanted to stay somewhere on the beach. We had heard of the Harama Yoga Retreat Center next door. As we toured the facilities at Harama, we stumbled upon the private beach of Playa Escondida. The bartender, Jorge, was extremely friendly and made excellent... More

We ended up staying here strictly by luck. We had not heard of it or read any press outside of Tripadvisor reviews once we found it, but we made last minute vacation plans and they had availability (and gave us a last-minute discount!). We stayed part of the time in a room very close to the water that was tucked... More

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful week spent at Playa Escondida and while we don't normally do repeat locations, this place could qualify. I have to say that I travel frequently to both high and low level locations for work and have limited vacation time which unfortunately falls at the same time as everyone else so when... More

Stayed 4 days in early December. I'm already planning a trip back. My husband and I had the best time at Playa Escondida. It was peaceful, beautiful, relaxing and very romantic. The staff is incredibly friendly and professional and the rooms are unique and very cool. I stayed at Casita for the first night and Sol 3 the remaining nights.... More

We drove in from puerto Vallarta to get a massage and have lunch. The place is breath taking and is the most amazing place . The massage was the best I have ever had and To hear the waves breaking during the massage was wonderful. The lunch, fish tacos, yummy!!! I can't wait to go back next year and stay... More

We stayed at Playa Escondida a few months ago and had a great time. It is a very pristine and beautiful resort and perfect for couples. The food is fresh and very well priced. The pool is delightful and has great views of the water. However, it was difficult to put a finger on why I wouldn't necessary stay there... More

Sorry you weren't in a room more suited to your personal needs. Some rooms have the sound of surf which can be loud for some people and heaven's lullaby for others; some have a balance of surf and jungle sounds and some have the peacefulness that light sleepers require. Please ask next time and wee will try to fit you... More
