I chose this property because all the hotels in Joplin were full, and I knew Carthage was close-by. What a great decision!! Bedding was the softest sheets I have ever used, bed was firm but still soft (no saggy in the middle), room was just the right size (could have used more hanging space) and shower was hot and strong... We showed up at the Grand Avenue Bed and Breakfast without giving our hosts much notice, but they graciously welcomed us, and even showed us all the rooms before we settled into the Laura Ingalls Wilder Room. It has an extremely comfortable king size bed with a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, which was a welcome addition. The house was... More

My husband and I stayed for a 1 night get away for his birthday. The house is very charming and comfortable. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and patio very much. The breakfast was delicious! We will be back. :) More

I stayed at the Grand B&B for work so I wasn't able to enjoy many of the amenities. But if I had a chance to go back for a weekend vacation I would. This place was very comfortable and the owners were so accommodating that it was really a haven after a long day at work. I recommend this place... More

Beautifully furnished Victorian house, but rather pricey for the size of the rooms. Breakfast was delicious! More

I have stayed at this B&B twice; the first time in summer 2007 and then again in late 2009. Having lived in Carthage as kids, my sisters and I stayed there for a reunion in 2007 in the EB White/Mark Twain suite. It was very comfortable, with plenty of room for the three of us and our "stuff." There's even... More

I don't understand the last review I read about this B&B from dd0220786. How on earth can you be disappointed with this trip back to Victorian times? The rooms are of exceptional 'period' quality, and as such will be 'very old fashioned'. Michael and Jeanne made us very welcome as soon as we arrived, and this house is a marvel.... More

Carthage is a quiet little town and we chose the Grand Avenue B&B because of the reviews and rating on tripadvisor. It is however the first time that the rating didn't meet our expectation. The location is ok (a quiet residential area). The rooms as well as the house itself are not wel kept. and in urgent need of redecorating.... More

Grand Avenue B & B was perfect for our yearly getaway weekend. We (three sisters and Mom) had a quiet, relaxing stay. We enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning served by Jeanne ( the hostess) who was very attentive to our needs. We felt right at home even taking over the big screen TV for an evening to watch a... More
