The Old Capitol Inn aspires to be one of those urban boutique hotels, heavy with outstanding service, elegant surroundings, and an array of extras that convince guests that prices higher than the best convention hotel in town are justified. The location is excellent--walking distance of all of downtown Jackson's attractions, state facilities, and offices. But beyond this, reality fails to...

Great place to stay in downtown Jackson. Our room had a small balcony which had a view of the courtyard. Because we were attending a banquet there that night, our "cocktails" were taken after the event. Breakfast was fantastic!!! Rooms are themed. Next time we may opt for a suite!
We found this after looking for a place to celebrate our 10th anniversary in downtown Jackson. It hit all the marks: free, gated parking, wine and cheese at 5pm, a very nice little room with a great little balcony, roof-top patio (with jacuzzi and views), and a delicious, full breakfast in the morning. It was exceptionally reasonable, fun, and comfortable....

The people at the Old Capitol Inn are remarkably friendly and helpful. After my flight got in at 10:30 am, I went to the hotel just to drop off my bags, but rather than just hold the bags, they cleaned my room and had it ready in no time. That was impressive. The room was very spacious, and the bathroom...

I always look forward to business trips to Jackson because I always get to stay at this special Inn. It's much more fun than a cookie-cutter mainstream hotel. Each room or suite has its own theme. The breakfast is gorgeous -- homemade eggs, bacon, grits, biscuits, muffins. Fresh fruit and coffee. The eating space is well lit and faces a...

I did not stay at the Old Capitol Inn, but had lunch there. And it was good! I ordered a crab chowder and their famous shrimp and grits. Both dishes were excellent! The dining room is very charming and as close to antebellum as is possible - most of Jackson was destroyed during the Civil War.
This place is best described as a boutique hotel, not a B&B. It was originally built as a YWCA, then converted about a decade ago. Each room is uniquely decorated (we had the Elvis room). It's obvious that care went into the renovation from very upscale showers, well-fitting doors, good A/C and nice furniture/beds.
The proprietor is usually on-site; all...

One week into a road trip we were glad to find such a nice B & B. Downtown, a block from the Old State Capitol. Plain on the outside, sumptous inside. We had a well-furnished suite - queen and pull-out couch. NOt overdone with frou-frous. Price of $139/night+ tax excellent.
Wine & Cheese from 5 to 6 pm was a...

We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Capitol Inn. It is very quaint. At the suggestion of the front desk we ate lunch when we first arrived while we waited for our room to be ready (we were about 3 hours early for check-in). Lunch was fresh, unique and reasonably priced. From looking at the other clientele it was...
