The Shack Up Inn isn't for everyone. If you want luxury and modern, don't go. If you want to be around GREAT people, history, regional art, and a bit of fun and funkiness, stay at the Shack Up Inn. In fact, don't just start there, talk to Guy and the guests, get some history of the area. Listen to some... More

As part of our blues trail on route 61, we had a stop over in Clarksdale, the birthplace of the blues.. What a great place! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw our room. So well put together (or should I say thrown together. The whole place is just a wonder and a wonderful change from run-of-the-mill chain hotels.... More

What a place! We loved the Shack Up Inn. We stayed for two nights in two different shacks on our honeymoon road trip of the south. The first night we stayed in the Robert Clay Shack, which was huge and the second night we were in the Claremont Shack, which was also great. Don't be fooled by this place, yes... More

I stayed at the Shack-up for a conference and enjoyed it thoroughly - this is not the ritz, so don't expect it to be. The rooms may not have a high-def tv, but they do have vintage musical instruments and more character than I could accumulate in a lifetime. Make sure you walk around the property - meet some other... More

Booked the Fullilove Shack after seeing The Shack Up Inn on tv in England. Wasn't disappointed. From the minute we crossed the rail track we knew this place was for us. Steeping into the shack was like stepping back in time. Nothing fancy but that's part of the experience. Clean bed, hot water what else do you need. Loved the... More

When I see so many five star reviews from folks who only have one review, I get suspicious. But even if some of these are, er, embellished, fear not, because the place is all it's shacked up to be. You get up in the morning in your quite authentic, roomy shack, sit on the porch with the satellite blues feed... More

Last April I went again to Shack Up Inn (first time I had gone was July 2011 - see previous review). This time I spent 4 nights during a blues festival and could feel how it works when totally booked. It was even better than the first time since I could see great live blues at Juke Joint Chapel, nice... More

I was so looking forward to the Shack Up Inn and it did not disappoint. As a matter of fact, it was better than I imagined. The staff were funny, charming and flexible. We got there around 8pm and when we walked into our shack the lights were on and they had blues playing, which TOTALLY made my day. They... More

I planned a trip (with the help one of my friends Marilyn) along the Blues Trail. When I found out about Shack Up Inn I thought this would be a hoot. Two of the couples stayed in shacks and my husband and I stayed in one of the bens in the Cotton Gin. The young man who checked us in,... More
