There isn't much going on in Waskish so unless you like to fish, this may not be the park for you. That being said, the fishing on the river and upper red are pretty good depending on the time of year that you go. Make sure to bring your boat as there are docks available for registered guests on a first come, first serve basis. The park was quiet with little riff raff after quiet time at 10pm. This is most likely due to most people being there to fish and getting up at the crack of dawn to do so. The campground has nice fish cleaning houses as well. The park grounds are well kept with some noticeable trash laying around but not much. The bathrooms and shower rooms were cleaned daily from what I could tell. There is a very nice, and fairly new, main park office building that includes some different nature education components include some stuff animals and birds. There isn't an onsite naturalist at this park but the park does offer a program once every Saturday. There is also a fire tower that is open to the public until the park office closes. Also, make sure to make the drive a few miles north of the park to check out the bog walkway. There can be quite a few bugs so spray yourself BEFORE you get to the bog to avoid putting those chemicals on the bog plants etc. Make sure to also triple check your supplies, there is a gas station down the road but that's it. The nearest grocery store or other type of modern amenities are 30+ minutes away.

We stayed two nights in a camper cabin here in Big Bog. The cabin was very nice and roomy. We enjoyed being so close to Upper Red Lake. There is not as much to do here as there is in other state parks, but if you like to fish, this is a great choice. The cabins were fun, but not as peaceful of a setting as some other state parks. You can hear people in the cabins next to you talking, but it was still nice. We would go back.

We just got back as I am typing! My husband, his family, and a couple of my brother stayed at their cabins. Don't be fool by the size. It looks small but once you get in, it's very roomy. Looks rather new inside. Cabins were really clean. There is a lake within walking distance to fish! That's a plus because I love fishing. They have a 24/7 family style showers/restrooms as well. Or else, there is toilet house near by. We enjoyed it very much. Also, their cabins sleeps up to six!
