I recently stayed at the Coates, and I quite enjoyed my experience. Only thing is that its pool area is surrounded by rooms, and another section of the is hotel connected by walkways between buildings. My family and I stayed for three days here, and were given a discounted rate. The kids loved the pool area, and me and wife enjoyed the bar. I asked the desk clerk if they had any silverware, and he ran them up to me. I recommend giving this place a shot.

It was worth the stop in my opinion. There were no signs on the highway for the hotel, but it was pretty easy to find once we took the turnoff. With a pool, hot tub, and sauna what more can you expect for a northern Minnesota hotel. I'll be back next time I need to travel north.

Dirty, not kept up, actual holes in the carpet, stains on the carpet, stains on the walls, beds at least 40 years old, no water pressure could not even shower. We were in the main part of the hotel, avoid 407 and someone else recommended avoiding 405. Front desk was not welcoming and busy watching tv.

You can't beat their prices and location! No other hotel in the area is this close to everything you need, I'm talking walking distance. Their rates are inline with a highway motel, and their service is that of a Hilton. You can not find a better place to go in northern Minnesota.

Tucked away in the heart of downtown Virginia, this hotel is a bargain for all it has. I got to meet the general manager, and he took me out for a night on the town! These people go above and beyond any customer service expectations. If you're looking for a unique traveling experience, this is the place to stay.
