We stayed here 2 nights while we moved our daughter into her college dorm. When we opened the door to our room a blast of hot air hit us. The window airconditioner unit had not been turned on and it was about 90 degrees outside. It felt like 110 degrees in the room. We turned the AC on high right... more

If a wedding (in my case) or your student at St Olaf or Carleton draws you to Northfield, drive just a little farther out of town to the Super 8. Debbie and Bernie will make you feel welcome, take fine care of you and feed you sumptuously at breakfast. She bakes muffins, banana bread and Rice Krispy treats until late... more

I stayed here while working at a nearby business. The hotel is a welcoming rest in a city that is an oasis to the rural fields of the MN countryside. The rooms are clean, with modest accomodations: basic cable TV, work desk areas, free coffee, free modest continental breakfast (bagels, cereal, juice, pastries). Improvements could be made in the breakfast... more

Checked in to a very aromatic room. Strong smell of cologne. Went immediately for dinner. Came back to a really awful smell of urine in room. Thought we could "handle" the smell until we crawled into bed...the source of the smell. They quickly changed us to another room without a problem. The next room was fine. Ice machine was broken.... more

The hotel is located fairly close to Carleton College where I was visiting my daughter. The area is safe but not exactly pretty. Parking is no problem and reservation was accurate. Reception was friendly. The room reserved was inexpensive and small as expected. The bed was adequate but I wouldn't want to spend a week sleeping on it. The room... more

We recently spent three nights at this property; we started searching for lodging too late to get into one of Northfield's nicer places. But our experience turned out OK. Our second-floor room was clean and quiet. It had a small refrigerator, coffee maker, and an Internet connection although we didn't have a laptop to try it out. We saw some... more

We stayed here during September and expected it to be pretty poor (it being the only choice left to us in the area). The downsides were the tired furnishings, threadbare (very) bed linen, minute supply of soap and low quality breakfast buffet. Air conditioning was antique, or older, and we wouldn't fancy it in mid-summer heat. Upside was convenience (to... more
