The Whaleback Inn offers clean, comfortable accomodations with lovely views of Lake Leelanau. The location is perfect, albeit on the main highway into and out of Leland. It's quiet during the nightttime but during the day you can hear cars passing. Property has nice ammenities, lake access and is peaceful and pleasant. Would definitely stay there again.

The location, the layout, the yard, the hospitality, and the dock were all wonderful parts of this inn. We met several couples here for a wedding in the area and we enjoyed looking at the stars on the dock at night, having a glass of local wine, being a bit noisy and knowing we weren't going to disturb the rest... My boyfriend and I stayed at the Whaleback Inn on a recent trip to Leland for a friend's wedding. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The location is spectacular (with a dock and chairs on the lake). The rooms were basic but clean. We'd go back!

This hotel has beautiful cottage style rooms, most of which overlook the lake. The rooms are neat as a pin and show obvious attention to detail with a woodland decor and comfortable beds. The Whaleback Inn is priced at $200 a night, which kind of set my expectations. It's close to Leland, but you have to cross a busy street to get to the lake. Rocks on the shore and just in case you did not check: it's not on Lake Michigan. The rooms are fine, but definitely not the romantic B&B style... More

Charming... clean.... beautiful views.... We stayed only for 1 night and I wanted to stay for a week. Scott and Tammie are wonderful hosts. The rooms are cozy and comfortable with all the amenities. We really enjoyed our time together at this Inn. We stayed in the Maple cottage which was very clean and cozy. The best part to us was the kitchen that had stocked pots & pans, plates, etc.. We brought spices and such with us and were able to make gourmet dinners with local meats, bakery goods, wines, and dairy products.... More

While Whaleback is a nice place, at $200/night for our two bed room, it is a bit overpriced and has limitations we wish we'd known about. On the plus side: the room is comfortable, and updated.
