My husband planned a surprise weekend trip for me and asked my sister and brother-in-law to join us.What a wonderful surprise it was! I am not sure what part of the weekend was the best--exploring Beaver Island or visiting with Bob and Joan, the owners of the B&B called, Shanoule. Bob and Joan are definitely doing in this life what... More

My wife and I were recent first-time vistors to Beaver Island and Shanoule B & B, and it could not have been more pleasant thanks to Bob & Joan and their beautiful log home. It started with a report on the island from Bob back when we first made the reservations in January. Upon our arrival, Bob followed up his... More

Bob and Joan treat you as guests in their beautiful log home located away from town in the woods. Joan is sweet and Bob is a hoot! He cooks up a delicious breakfast in the morning too! If you are looking for a nice, clean, quiet place away from the "main drag", then look no further. More

This is a very nice B&B with modern fixtures and cute rooms. They had individual bathrooms and a very nice common room. Bob and Sharon are the best hosts that give you a personal tour of the island prior to your stay. The breakfast was delicious and they are very accommodating to your eating time. Fly on Island Airways and... More

I highly recommend staying in Bob and Joan Banville's beautiful, hand-built log cabin deep in the woods. Expect cozy, spacious, spotless bedrooms and a delicious breakfast, plus the chance to learn lots about the island and its people, history, culture, and wildlife. This was my first time on Beaver Island, and I won't consider staying anywhere else if I return. More

Wow, we happened upon this place as we were planning our honeymoon on Beaver Island and could not have chosen a better place to stay. First, Bob and Joan are some of the most amazing people we've ever met - so comfortable and welcoming. They treated us like old friends within minutes of meeting us and had us laughing all... More

Bob and Joan have to be two of the nicest and most interesting B&B keepers that we have met in our short B&B career. Their lovely home, located on 40 acres of wooded land on the island, is an incredibly comfortable place to stay. You can crash at the B&B all day, or go out to "do the island." Bob... More

Bob and Joan Banville are two of the nicest, friendliest people I have ever had the fortune to meet. Our four days with them was wonderful. They went out of their way to make our stay perfect. The breakfasts were gourmet. Bob has a wonderful sense of humor and he and my husband had a blast comparing stories about their... More

Really beautiful log cabin, wonderful owners, delicious breakfast. Beaver Island isn't a luxury shopping getaway but it's wonderful, peaceful and feels like a safe retreat to a place that's retained the charm left behind in the progress of the rest of the world. That's not to say that the people there aren't intelligent and progressive, because they are, it's just... More

My wife and I spent two wonderful nights at this very relaxing friendly B&B. The food was delightful as were the laid back atmosphere and nature preserve surroundings. If you want to get pampered and get away from the busy World stay with Bob & Joan Banville. Deer, wild turkeys and other critters eat outside your windows. There is even... More
